Why does one tiled floor last 20+ years, while another starts cracking or coming loose after just 2–3 years?

The answer is usually what's underneath the tiles.

Many people think the tiles are the most important part of the job. In reality, preparation is everything.
A long-lasting tiling job starts with:

✔️ A solid, stable subfloor
✔️ The correct primer
✔️ Proper levelling where needed
✔️ Waterproofing in wet areas
✔️ The right adhesive for the tile and substrate
✔️ Full adhesive coverage (not just blobs in the corners)
✔️ Correct movement joints to allow for expansion

Unfortunately, many failures happen because these steps are skipped to save time or money.
Common problems caused by poor preparation:

❌ Hollow-sounding tiles
❌ Loose or lifting tiles
❌ Cracked grout
❌ Water damage behind bathroom walls
❌ Expensive repairs that could have been avoided

A professionally installed tiled floor or bathroom shouldn't just look good on day one—it should still look great 20 years later.

At Vanta Tiling, we believe quality starts long before the first tile is laid. We never cut corners because your investment deserves to last.
