Some essential repairs carried out today on loading dock vehicle power stations. Around 18 damaged at this location of one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains in Aylesford, Kent.

Repairs consisted of, full changeovers, faceplates, replacement RCD’s & neons. Returning tomorrow to finish off, but a productive nonetheless to ensure a fully efficient area.

Was contacted to replace a wall-mounted towel rail heater in Medway, Kent.

On arrival, although the customer had supplied a new unit, it became clear the existing installation had underlying issues. The flex had been disconnected from the Switched Fused Connection Unit, which itself had been installed outside of permitted bathroom zones following recent works.

Further inspection identified thermal damage within the FCU, along with an over-rated 13A fuse. This indicated a fault within the existing heating element, with the incorrect fuse rating allowing the fault condition to persist longer than it should have.

Due to access limitations and to avoid unnecessary disruption, the decision was made to install a Unswitched Fused Connection Unit in a compliant configuration. Fuse changed to a 3A.

We will be returning to complete the installation with a new thermostatically controlled element, providing safe operation along with user control and improved energy efficiency.

Another example of why proper inspection and testing is critical — not all issues are visible at first glance.

Quick P1/C1 but important call out done this week in Erith ✅

Fridge socket damaged, exposed live cables, face plate & lugs shattered due to large commercial drinks vending fridge being moved and pushed too far back causing this dangerous situation.

On site within 30 minutes, new PVC backbox & faceplate replaced. Small but effective and no risk to staff on site now.

LED Lighting Upgrade Completed ✅

Out with outdated fittings, in with efficient, high-output LED lighting.

We were contacted by a very valued client of ours to come and have a look at their current lighting situation. It came about that, they are always having to constantly change over tubes or fittings just were failing altogether, as well as the actual poor output from the lamps.

We were asked to prioritise walkways but to bring more focus to specific machinery.

Also, as you can see from the first few slides, it was extremely dark and shadowy across the whole workspace. They wanted a survey and scope from us to upgrade all the fittings to brighter and more modern lights to improve their busy workspace to improve being able to see their high quality graphic prints. We are ecstatic to have provided this and improve their brightness, energy usage and provide them with a premium look.

Another commercial space brought up to modern standards.

Another One ☝️ ✅ ⚡️

Customer requested a survey of their garage area in their production workshop, had an issue with the usage of power tools causing tripping of the circuits which caused the main RCD to trip and cut power to the whole workspace.

They wanted additional sockets, which meant we had to upgrade the breaker which was originally a 16A. Their existing MCBs, I’ve never heard of or seen before so we opted for a Consumer Unit upgrade and the addition of RCD sockets, to trip the individual outlet where overload or faults occur, saving the hassle for them to delay their works anymore.

✅ - 4 additional double sockets opted for RCD sockets
✅ - 4 existing faceplates changed over to RCD face plates
✅ - Old CU stripped out and removed
✅ - New CU installed with SPD
✅ - Part re-wire in 4mm singles
✅ - Breaker upgrade from B16A MCB ➡️ B32A RCBO
