3 tips for eradicating Japanese Knotweed:

1) Don't try pull it up during the winter - all the plants energy are in its roots and splitting it up will spread small parts of the root across a wider area ready for a ray of sun to bring it to life.

2) Without excavating the plant, the most effective treatment is professionally applied chemical herbicide from spring to the end of summer sprayed and injected into the plant.

3) Whilst you may have been able to kill off the original visible part of the plant - keep an eye out for new growth elsewhere in your garden as it has an extensive root system.
