SCOP 5.4 - from 5 years of data from this residential installation since 2021.

We were in Brentwood last week servicing an OCHSNER Air Hawk 208. It’s been running the heating and hot water ever since.

While we were there, a member of the household mentioned a friend with a ground source system who’d been a bit sniffy about their “lesser” air source machine.

So our engineer pulled the performance data.

SCOP 5.4 over the life of the installation.

Real, measured performance over five years in a real home.

We’ve been installing both ground and air source for years and ground source can absolutely reach those numbers but it can cost up to 3x more to install a ground source.

OCHSNER air source heat pumps have a working life of 20+ years and with an SCOP of 5.4 that where real savings and return on investment are made.

This is an OCHSNER AIR HAWK 208, installed on a balcony directly beside a bedroom window.

That only works because the AIR HAWK 208 is engineered to be genuinely quiet, not “quiet for a heat pump,” but quiet, full stop.

28 dB is quieter than a whisper !

Conservation area restrictions rule out half the units on the market before you’ve even started. Add a tight bedroom balcony footprint, and most installers would tell you it can’t be done.

The original plan? Dig up Trinity’s famous lawns for ground source heat pumps.

Our answer? You don’t have to.

The OCHSNER Air Hawk 1850 is one of our powerful enough air source heat pumps. Perfect for large heritage buildings and estates. Quiet enough to sit beside Grade 1-listed buildings - just 39.7 bB sound pressure level. 40kW machine. They did their own study for us before it was installed and the gardeners were very happy it was quieter than a beehive!

The noise level of a quiet library so the go ahead was given to get one installed next to Trinity’s historic halls and libraries - lawns remain untouched.

Now more OCHSNER units are being installed this year as Trinity works towards net zero before 2050. Removing gas across its estate while protecting the buildings that make Cambridge, Cambridge.

A hand cuffed man to an oil drum, and a simple message: stop chaining yourself to fossil fuels.

This message couldn’t resonate more today.

Karl Ochsner Senior was saying it decades before it was fashionable. Nearly 50 years later, we’re still saying it.
