We attended site to connect in an hob, which an oven manufacturer was unable to do. While we were there, we inspected their work, I am glad we did, there was no earth and a potential fire hazard. Before and after pictures.

EICRs or Electrical Installation Condition Reports, are essential safety inspections. This article by the IET, in summary, points out that some companies are cutting corners by not carrying out the reports properly and/or are over specifying the remedial work. The article says EICRs for less than £100 are likely to be ‘drive-by inspections’. A small flat will take around 3 hours on site, and a small three bedroom house about 4 hours. (Whilst we basically agree with this, the time on site is dependent upon number of circuits). This problem is not just in the residential market but the commercial too.



We have been told that there are so-called compliance companies out there charging £6 per circuit and their staff need to test 10 circuits per hour, we look to test around 3-4 circuits in an hour to ensure testing is carried out properly.

We are a family run electrical wholesaler based on Old Kent Road which has been established for over 30 years in wholesaling we also have our own inhouse electricians who carry out various types of works.

We require a motivated individual to join our busy office. The role is varied including but not limited to:

- Serving customers on the trade counter

- Answering calls and processing customers’ orders via telephone

- Creating quotes for our customers

- Obtaining prices and placing purchase orders with suppliers

- Receiving in goods from suppliers

- Picking and packing orders

- Assisting our electricians with goods required for their jobs

Although we have a full-time driver, we ideally require the applicant to have a Full UK Driving Licence as some holiday cover and when busy, some urgent deliveries will be required to be done.

Experience

- Wholesale experience is preferred

- Can do attitude and flexibility is required

- Good time keeping

- Clean and tidy appearance

- Strong computer skills

- Good sense of humour

The Details

The role is full time however for the right candidate we could work a pro-rata option if required.

- 8-5pm with some flexibility

- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays

- Staff discount

- Salary £20,000 - £27,000 depending on experience.
