It’s not what you’d expect an office to look like… but then again, I doubt you’d expect anything ordinary.

Early in the year I often take a flight away from Europe, not to lounge on a beach, but to explore, to experience other cultures, wander ancient monuments, discover local art and crafts, and just soak in the way people live.

This time, I’ve been to Rajasthan, India, a place both challenging and endlessly rewarding. Everywhere I looked, there was something else to see, admire, and learn from learn from.

What stayed with me most was the colour. The everyday colour — applied with joy, with delight, with no hesitation. It’s a reminder that colour isn’t just decoration; it’s a way of life.

Here’s a shot that I took in Jaipur. That sienna doorway framing the mauve interior was sensational.

One of the greatest privileges of my work is being invited back.
I’ve worked with many clients over decades, returning at different stages of their lives to adapt their homes; sometimes in a new house, sometimes revisiting an original design 10–15 years on.

What I’m proudest of is that the original spaces have stood the test of time.
Usually, it’s only the technology that dates — the design endures.
