We were delighted to be able to support the Greater Manchester Combined Authority yesterday in their efforts to promote T-Levels in the region.
T Levels are a recognised alternative to A Levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent in size to three A Levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help you into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.

Focused on a split between classroom and work-based learning, you’ll spend 80% of your course in your learning environment and the other 20% on an in-depth work placement where you’ll be putting your skills into action.

For more information on how a T-Level at Murphy might support you, contact us at [email protected]

Colleagues from our Willesden project recently visited the Pepper Pot Centre to support its elderly residents by removing waste and old furniture. They also made sure to save time for some post-cleanup dominos with the residents!

The project team will be returning to Pepper Pot later in the year to install new shelving units and provide new chairs, blinds and tables to revamp their game room.

Michael, the Operations Manager at Pepper Pot Centre said: “The Murphy team were professional, proactive, and incredibly helpful throughout the visit. Their positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in made a real difference on the day. We’re genuinely quite excited about what we can achieve together moving forward.”

We are proud to support organisations in our local communities that make a difference. If you’d like to learn more about how you can play a part in our mission to improve life, please visit our website: https://careers.murphygroup.com/

⚡ We're building the workforce to power Ireland’s future ⚡

At Murphy, as our work with continues to grow, one thing became clear — we needed more skilled line technicians. So, we took action.
🎓 We’ve established our own training school to:
• Train people with no experience into trainee line technicians
• Upskill experienced workers from overseas to ESB & Irish safety standards

Over the last few months, we’ve welcomed new team members from Kenya, Romania, Portugal and the Philippines 🌍 — bringing valuable international experience to our crews.

And this week marks another milestone — our first assessment day for people with no experience who are ready to start their journey as trainee line technicians.

⚡ This is more than recruitment — it’s a long-term investment in people, skills and infrastructure.

If you're looking for a hands-on career with real progression, we’d love to hear from you.

🚧 R132 Road Project Update – Swords 🚧

Works on the R132 for Fingal County Council are progressing well, with our team demonstrating our expertise in delivering world-class infrastructure in a live traffic environment and within tight working areas, while maintaining safety, efficiency and productivity throughout.

The team has been particularly encouraged by the positive engagement and warm welcome from the local community. Alongside favourable weather conditions, this has supported steady and efficient progress across the first few weeks of the works.

The R132 project will play an important role in facilitating the future planned integrated sustainable transport development in this area, while also improving traffic movement, accessibility and connectivity in the Swords area. These enhancements will bring long-term benefits to local businesses by improving access and supporting economic activity.

As we move into the next stages of delivery, you can expect to see increased activity on site with works continuing to Estuary Roundabout and Northbound and Southbound along the R132 between Estuary and Bostik.

A zero-emissions electric excavator has been deployed for the first time at Davyhulme Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW)

United Utilities has secured a 23-tonne SANY SY215E excavator from Murphy to prepare the ground ready for the construction of a new building. The Murphy team are also constructing the building itself, which will house the latest technology for reducing phosphorus in treated wastewater before it is returned to the environment.

It was great to see a fantastic turnout at the recent Newbridge Athletic Club 5K & 10K road race — with runners passing right by our Ireland head office in Co. Kildare 👏

We’re incredibly proud to sponsor Newbridge AC as part of our commitment to supporting local communities and creating a lasting, positive impact around our offices and projects.

With over 500 members — from young children starting out to competitive athletes and social runners — the club plays a vital role in developing local talent, promoting wellbeing, and encouraging lifelong participation in sport.

Through our partnership, we’re helping to support the club’s continued growth by contributing to training equipment, coaching, and community initiatives that enable athletes of all ages and abilities to thrive.

A big congratulations to everyone who took part, and thank you to the Newbridge AC team for all the incredible work you do!

Colleagues on our Uxbridge Moor project team recently volunteered their time at Wexham Park Hospital, supporting the Eden Ward, the closest emergency care provider to the site. 🌷❤️‍🩹🦺

Over the course of 32 hours, the team restored one of the central patient garden areas by weeding, planting, and refreshing flower displays, creating a calmer, more uplifting space for patients and families to spend time together. Several benches were also repaired, sanded back and given a fresh coat of Murphy green, helping them blend into the garden.

At Murphy, our Never Harm value means we protect our people, the environment and the communities where we work and live. Wexham Park supports the community near our project site, playing a vital role in keeping people safe. To show our appreciation, we also worked with local business Lulu’s Secret Hampers to donate a hamper to the nursing team as a small thank you for the incredible work they do.

We were proud to support National Workplace Wellbeing Day across Ireland this week, taking time to pause, switch off and reconnect.

All projects and offices were invited to take part in a Tech‑Free Tea Break, creating space to unwind, step away from devices and check in with one another.

Our teams in the Dublin office, along with colleagues from the workshops and offices at our Newbridge headquarters, also enjoyed Stretch and Flex sessions throughout the day, blending meditation, yoga and gentle movement to support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Workplace wellbeing is about the small, meaningful moments that help us feel supported, energised and connected. Throughout the year, our Occupational Health team delivers a range of initiatives to ensure employee wellbeing remains a constant priority. This week, they added further events to the programme, including financial wellness and stress and sleep webinars, using Workplace Wellbeing Day as a timely reminder for us all to check in with ourselves and keep wellbeing firmly on our personal priority lists.

Thanks to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a positive experience.

Murphy has successfully delivered a significant milestone by carrying out the first permanent works use of Ecocem ACT in the UK.

Working in partnership with Breedon GB and Ecocem Global, the team utilised the new, marketing beating, low carbon concrete for the capping beam cast for a contiguous pile wall at the Shipley Depot project site.

Once all the pile caps for the wall have been completed, the team expect to make a carbon saving of 145kgCO₂e per m3 against the benchmark CIII/A mix concrete mix.

That's the same carbon footprint as the electricity for 20 UK homes in a year, or an average car travelling around the equator twice.

Some of our Newbridge-based team completed their Giving Back project yesterday at local women’s refuge, Teach Tearmainn, helping to bring colour, care and renewed energy to an important community space.

Thanks to the commitment of a team of 11, who dedicated all or part of their two allocated Giving Back Days, the children’s playground at Teach Tearmainn has been repainted, refreshed and re imagined — ready once again for laughter, play and brighter moments as the better weather and longer days return 🌱🌞

At Murphy, all employees can take two Giving Back Days each year. These days not only strengthen teamwork and connection, but allow us to bring our Improving Life ethos beyond delivering world class infrastructure and into the heart of the communities where we live and work.

Teach Tearmainn is the only dedicated domestic violence support service in County Kildare, providing free and confidential services — including refuge accommodation — to women and children experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Their work offers safety, support and hope at a time when it is needed most. We are proud to support an organisation making such a meaningful difference.
