Before and after of a recent extractor fan and refinishing of a ceiling job for a client in Kennington, SE London. Sometimes our work takes us to some weird and wonderful places. Our refurbishment team is currently working at London’s iconic . We’re proud, not only to be working in one of the most famous landmark’s in our borough and city but also happy to be supporting local businesses. It looks like we’re going to be spoilt for choice with food options during our lunch breaks for the foreseeable too.

I made it to Vyšné Nemecké, Slovakia!

I’d started out yesterday morning from Michalovce, a small town 20 miles from Vyšné with a group of ex-military aid workers from Czeckia who were going across the border to Uzhhorod, Ukraine. They invited me to follow them up in convoy and stop before the checkpoint as they continued over.

Our gifts and aid were delivered to three places:
1. To the border at the refugee reception provided by a church in vyšné nemecké where Ukrainians are provided with all essential items for children and adults.
2. The Slovakian Red Cross who are there assisting refugees as they cross from Ukraine.
3. Sent over the border from a church in Sobrance to Uzhhorod, Ukraine so food can be made, then sent off to Kharkiv and Kyiv for residents there.

Yesterday 5600 refugees came across this one border crossing from Uzhhorod and other Ukrainian cities to the east. There are 3 crossing points in Slovakia and all are seeing an increase. 1,700.000 million Ukrainian refugees have already made their way into Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Slovakia. With Ukraine’s population in excess of 41,000.000, undoubtedly there will be an escalation of refugees crossing the border in days and weeks to come.

Immediate needs have been met and we’re in the process of planning another trip.

Firstly, please excuse the delay in today’s update. It’s been a hectic day with picking up from generous local people who have kindly donated items from the initial list, collecting from my local cash & carry/food wholesaler, speaking with numerous people about this aid trip and managing my day’s work clients too.

We’re still short of a few items. Most important is warm blankets, sleeping bags & more emergency blankets but anything else off the list on the first two photos would be of a big help to us. I’ve included a couple of photos of just a small amount of what’s been bought or collected today(pics 3, 4, 5 & 6). There is a lot more but haven’t managed to take photos yet.

We’ve had a slight change of destination mainly due to the fact that Poland is now literally swamped with donations. Now it looks like we’re either going to the border crossing in Slovakia or Romania. Things are changing on a daily basis on the border crossings and I want to ensure that our donations go to where they’re needed most, direct to Ukrainian Refugees. Due to the sheer volume of packing to do and also the cross border forms that have to be filled out, I’m now departing very early Saturday morning.

I think that’s about it for now other thank to say a big thank you to our donors and sponsors so far, with special mention to in Tunbridge Wells who’s been collecting items from all of their clients. I’m blown away by how much you have helped. I’ve a big mentions list with an update tomorrow. Thanks for reading 🙏🏼
