🌱 WEDNESDAY WISDOM 🌱
Reviving Your Lawn – Scarify • Seed • Top Dress • Protect
A tired, patchy or moss-covered lawn doesn't always need replacing. With the right preparation and a little TLC, you can give it a new lease of life. 🌿
Here's how we approach a lawn renovation:
1️⃣ SCARIFY 🌱
First, we scarify the lawn to remove thatch, moss and dead organic material that has built up at the base of the grass. This opens the lawn up and allows water, nutrients and new seed to reach the soil.
2️⃣ SEED 🌾
Once the lawn has been properly prepared, we spread quality grass seed across the area, paying particular attention to thin and bare patches. The seed needs good contact with the soil to give it the best chance of germinating.
3️⃣ TOP DRESS 🪴
A suitable top-dressing is then applied over the lawn. This helps improve the soil surface, levels out minor imperfections and gives the new seed a better environment in which to establish.
4️⃣ PROTECT WITH FLEECE 🧣
Where appropriate, we can cover the newly seeded lawn with lawn fleece. This helps protect the seed from birds and other disturbance while also helping to maintain moisture and create a favourable environment for germination.
5️⃣ WATER & BE PATIENT 💧
This is the bit that happens after we leave! Keep the area consistently moist without flooding it, and try to avoid walking on the newly seeded lawn while it establishes.
🌱 The result? With the right conditions and aftercare, those tired, patchy areas can develop into a much healthier, thicker lawn.
At Boni's, we don't just throw some seed down and hope for the best — proper preparation is the key to successful lawn renovation. 💚
