Pine Walk - Carshalton

This stunning project reimagines the rear of the home with a modern, dropped-level extension that creates a seamless connection between the house and garden.

The design is defined by the striking contrast of crisp light grey brickwork and sleek zinc cladding, carefully composed to emphasise the architectural form and create a bold yet elegant addition.

Inside, the material palette continues with the same light grey brick used to form a feature wall between the open-plan kitchen and the sunken lounge, bringing warmth, texture and continuity from the exterior into the heart of the home.

Every detail has been carefully considered to create a contemporary family space that is both functional and beautifully crafted.

What do you think of this combination of zinc and brick? Let us know in the comments.

This recently completed rear extension to a semi-detached property in South Croydon demonstrates how a carefully considered material palette can create a striking yet balanced architectural intervention.

The design uses rendered piers and zinc horizontal bands to articulate the façade and reduce the perceived mass of the extension, creating a contemporary addition that sits comfortably within its context.

Internally, the extension delivers a generous open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, enhanced by a bespoke combination of sliding doors and a sliding window. This arrangement maximises daylight, improves natural ventilation, and strengthens the connection between the home and garden.

A simple approach to materials and detailing, delivering a modern and functional family home.

We’re proud to have submitted a planning application for a brand-new event space at The Hope — one of South London’s best-loved pubs.

As a busy practice working across the area, we love collaborating with other independent local businesses and helping community spaces continue to grow and thrive.

The proposal will create a permanent structure within the pub’s famous beer garden, providing an improved home for the much-loved summer beer festivals and year-round events. It will replace the existing marquee, originally installed as a temporary solution… somehow 12 years ago.

We’re excited to help shape the next chapter for such an iconic local venue and look forward to seeing the space continue to bring people together for many years to come.

"Valley House" in Coulsdon.

KJC architects recently completed a full refurbishment and redevelopment of the existing house, including extensive side and rear extensions, loft extension with conversion, landscape design and interior design. We also provided a full planning service to obtain approval on this difficult sloping site.

Bringing light and volume into the core of the house was a key consideration from the outset on this project.

Detailed joinery elements throughout the house animate most surfaces in each room, whether it is molded panelling on the wall or a triple height staircase, it brings the space to life.

This snapshot video is one of many projects in Surrey. We cover a wide area across Surrey and London, including Coulsdon, Kingswood, Warlingham, Fetcham, Oxted, Woldingham.
