🚨EMERGENCY CALL OUT 🚨

Issue: Blocked Stack Pipe

Report:
Attended site to investigate a reported blockage in the stack pipe.
Access was created into the external stack pipe serving Flats 20A and 20B. A CCTV inspection was carried out; however, visibility was limited due to waste water being held within the stack pipework.

It was observed that whenever Flat 20A discharged water or flushed the toilet, waste water would back surge into Flat 20B. This resulted in sewage flooding within Flat 20B, contaminating the carpets and saturating the bathroom flooring.

A chain machine was deployed to mechanically clear the blockage, during which a large quantity of baby wipes was recovered.

The stack pipe was traced to a manhole located on the ground floor. A further CCTV inspection from this point revealed fractured pipework within the system, which was contributing to the blockage.

A high-pressure water jetting unit was then set up. Once the water tank was filled, the pipeline was jet blasted to remove the obstruction. During this process, two large cracked sections of pipe were successfully dislodged and recovered from within the 4-inch pipeline.

A final CCTV inspection confirmed that the entire line was now clear and flowing freely.

Issue: Blocked Urinal

Engineer’s Report:
Attended site to investigate a blocked urinal. Upon inspection, found the urinal fully blocked and the water supply feed to the flush box jammed, preventing the urinal from flushing correctly.

Removed the bottle trap and cleared heavy scale buildup. Used a rotary drill to descale and clear the internal pipework, removing the obstruction and restoring full flow through the pipelines.

Applied WD-40 to the jammed water supply ni**le and carefully worked it loose until the water feed was restored to the flush box. Reinstated the water supply, tested operation, and confirmed that the urinal is now flushing correctly. This will also help prevent further scale accumulation.

Sanitised the work area and left the site clean and tidy.

Issue: Blocked Sink

Report:
Attended site to investigate a blocked sink.

Initially deployed a wet vacuum to attempt removal of the obstruction. During this process, it became evident that a substantial blockage remained within the pipework. A chain machine was then used to mechanically core through the pipe while simultaneously applying suction via the wet vacuum.

The blockage was successfully dislodged and extracted.

Cause of Blockage:
A deceased rat was found within the pipework, which was the source of the obstruction.

Following removal, the pipework was reconnected and thoroughly flushed through to ensure clear flow. The affected area was then fully sanitised, cleaned, and tidied.

🚨 EMERGENCY CALL OUT 🚨
Issue: Leaking Pipework

Site Report
Attended site to investigate leaking pipework. Found poor-quality installation with multiple patchwork repairs. The hopper box had been removed, causing internal waste, rainwater, and condensate to discharge onto a public footpath and stairwell—posing a health and safety risk.

Under the stairs, a leaking cast iron fitting was causing water damage to the Leylands shop ceiling. Denzo tape had been misused to bind sections of pipework, highlighting substandard repairs.

Inside the off-licence, an improvised hopper box was mounted to ceiling beams with a bucket acting as a drainage system, connected to a 4-inch underground pipe draining into a gully.

A flat tenant attempted a DIY repair but was advised to leave it to professionals. Materials were sourced from three suppliers for quality and availability.

On return, all faulty pipework was removed and replaced with a new, professionally installed system. A new hopper box now correctly collects and redirects all waste. Pipework was glued, clamped, and tested for integrity.

Site left clean and all work completed to a high standard.

🚨EMERGENCY CALL OUT 🚨

Issue: Blockages affecting the kitchen sink, wash basins, and urinals on the 6th floor

Report:
Engineer attended site to investigate reported blockages affecting the kitchen sink, wash basins, and urinals on the 6th floor (Room 701). Upon inspection, it was identified that the pipework and stack were heavily obstructed due to a build-up of scale and waste deposits.

Initial action involved using a wet vacuum to extract accumulated waste from the affected pipework. A chain machine was then deployed to methodically descale the internal surfaces of the pipeline. Progress was slow due to the severity of the build-up, requiring the system to be cleared incrementally. The wet vacuum was used in tandem with the chain machine to continuously extract loosened debris, allowing further advancement of the descaling process down the line and into the stack.

Following successful removal of all scale and waste, full flow capacity was restored. The bottle traps beneath the basins were also emptied and cleaned, as they were found to be filled with waste deposits.

A minor leak was discovered beneath one of the basins during the works and was promptly repaired. Final checks confirmed that there were no leaks present.

The pipeline was thoroughly flushed to ensure optimal flow, and all fixtures are now functioning correctly.
