🌿 Rooftop Garden Transformation in Ilford! 🌿

We’ve been busy working on this fantastic rooftop garden for a school in Ilford, and it’s really starting to come together!

The latest stages of the project have included:

🌱 Planting up the new pond with a selection of aquatic plants
🪴 Planting the contemporary pots throughout the rooftop
🪨 Completing the new rockery with alpine-style planting
🔨 Finishing the decking areas to create practical outdoor spaces

Creating a garden on a rooftop comes with its own challenges, but it’s been great to see what was once a very hard, open space gradually transformed into a much greener and more interesting environment for the school.

We’re looking forward to seeing everything establish and mature over the coming seasons!

The benefits of a drip feed irrigation system in weather like this is incredible. These systems are great at conserving water, with up to 50% less water usage when compared to more conventional methods of irrigation. This garden is always a delight to work in!

We're incredibly proud to share that, following the successful completion of our native tree planting project at UEL featuring over 60 native species, we've had the privilege of being considered for a BALI Award.

As part of the judging process, we were delighted to welcome Nick Coslett, our assigned BALI judge, for a site visit. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase not only this project but also the wider environmental work that is at the heart of everything we do.

During the visit, we highlighted our commitment to sustainable landscaping through:
🌳 Native planting schemes that support biodiversity
💧 Water-conserving irrigation systems
♻️ The use of organic and recycled materials wherever possible
🌿 An eco-friendly approach to gardening and landscape management
🦎 Our management of a designated wild area, following the discovery of Great Crested Newts, ensuring this protected habitat continues to thrive while being carefully maintained

Protecting and enhancing the natural environment is a responsibility we take seriously. Whether it's planting native species, conserving protected habitats, or adopting sustainable working practices, we're committed to creating landscapes that benefit both people and wildlife.

We're grateful to BALI for taking the time to visit and learn more about our work. Regardless of the outcome, it's an honour to have our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship recognised and considered.

Thank you to everyone involved in helping us deliver projects that make a positive, lasting impact. We look forward to continuing to create landscapes that are not only beautiful but also support biodiversity for generations to come.

Before and after transformation of a lawn in desperate need of some TLC. Unfortunately, prior attempts of seeding by the client was sabotaged by the local wood pigeons. After stepping in with some top soil and chicken wire, the results are amazing!

Another successful company-wide Health & Safety training day as part of our ongoing commitment to improving standards, supporting our team, and creating a safer working environment across the business.

As a landscaping business, health and safety is something we take extremely seriously. Our teams work in physically demanding environments every day, often using machinery, lifting heavy materials, and working in changing site conditions. Ensuring everyone understands how to identify and manage risks is essential for both safety and wellbeing.

We also believe mental health awareness is just as important as physical safety. Creating an open and supportive workplace helps ensure our staff feel valued, supported, and able to perform at their best.

Training days like this are an important step in addressing areas where we can improve as a business and continuing to raise standards for both our staff and our clients.

A big thank you to everyone involved in today’s session and to our Health & Safety advisor for helping us continue moving in the right direction. A special thanks to Andy Hooke, our new health and safety consultant for chairing this!
