Hello everyone, for the next couple of weeks we are working to restore the floor in the library of Charlton house.

As this is a grade two listed premises we have planned this project with the assistance of the local authority and their conservation team so as to preserve and maintain the buildings original character.

The building was originally built in the 1600 but this floor is a much later addition in the 1900's, however planning still requires it to be treated with the same care and attention of a grade 2 listed building.

To avoid altering the appearance too significantly We are using finishing sanders to gently remove layers of built up varnish to reveal the beautiful oak floorboard beneath. These will then be treated with hard wax oil.
