My customer moved house (down the same road) and decided to take their water softener with them, as i only fitted in their old house in 2023. Coming to this new house it had been recently renovated and floors were finished, and there was no way of softening the cold water and keeping a drinking supply unless i fitted a reverse osmosis machine under their sink which they didn’t want to do. So as it was here and they wanted to use it, i intercepted the cold feed to the combination boiler and at least that’s going to have soft water feeding it including all the hot taps in the house.

It’s important to remember you can’t fill the heating system with soft water so put a disgusting massive sign over the boiler to remind anyone to turn on the bypass before filling the heating system!

As i’ve had so many questions about this system in my DMs i’ll create this post where hopefully Temp Technical can answer any of your questions as it was his brilliant idea on how to do it when i rang him in July 2025 panicking about getting some sort of first fix in as i needed to close the ceilings up so i couldn’t finish the house. It’s so nice to have it on and ready for the next heat wave 🤩

If only it was as easy as that. Well done to Chris for choosing the tiles (and taking the old photos off the wall) Well done to for the bit of electrics, well done to for sorting the walls out, well done to for getting the tiles on, well done to for sealing it all up! Well done to for painting it… But most of all WELL DONE TO ME FOR DOING THE REST OF IT.
