Being recognised within our industry and shortlisted for Home Extension of the Year at the British Homes 2026 Awards is truly a special thing.

Our unique process focuses on understanding a client’s specific personal needs and working together to deliver something that reflects and supports the way they want to live. This project perfectly exemplifies the benefits of working in this way to create a ‘forever’ home for Julia who has a progressive illness that will impact her mobility over the coming years.

Together we created a home that met these needs and that celebrated Julia and Simon’s love of art, making and hosting: meeting demanding practical requirements whilst also prioritising moments of joy.

On Tuesday we escaped work and the city heat to visit Knepp Wilding Kitchen & Shop for some super tasty lunch followed by a self guided tour of the walled garden and kitchen garden KneppWildland
We walked past deers, tree viewing platforms, cows and a lake filled with wildlife to end up at the most surprising imaginatively planted naturally maintained walled garden and kitchen garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith
Have you been? What did you think? If not we’d highly recommend 🌱💚 ☀️

Lots of clients approach us with ambitions to reduce the energy usage in their home and build healthily and sustainably. The budgets and complexity attached to accredited retrofit standards like Enerphit and AECB at this scale often make these difficult to justify.

On this project we took a best practice approach prioritising best value changes and measures. We used LETI guides as a framework alongside fantastic support from Ecological Building Systems

An additional challenge was that one of the clients had high sensitivity to VOCs so we focused on bio-based materials and building systems that could support a healthy internal environment.

The house now delivers heat at 37 kWh/m2/year which is lower than the minimum required for AECB accreditation and overall energy consumption is 53 kWh/m2/year well within both AECB AND Passivhaus requirements.

The project delivers a bright, colourful and healthy home that reflects the warmth and passion of the household.

We finally got there! After 2 Planning Applications and an Appeal with LB Lambeth our project is finally completed. We replaced an existing conservatory that was built in 2000s that had reached the end of its life (leaks, poor thermal performance, instability etc) with a new timber framed extension clad in Viroc_Official and topped with a lead roof.

Designing and making together is not only something we enjoy, we truly believe that this process can make something powerful: human connections, stories and memories. We love seeing how younger members of the family adapt and inhabit the new spaces we create. How they can see things with fresh eyes where everything is possible. Here’s a few of our faves.

Read this and thought about our work.

‘I don’t like homes designed by somebody else. Because, how do they know who you are? It’s sterile! If something talks to you it doesn’t matter if people say, ‘ugh, those chairs, they don’t go with the rug’. Who cares what anyone else thinks about your house. As long as you like it.’ Nicole Farhi

Come and explore our Burgundy Lanes project. This project transforms a mid-century house in Hackney into a family home that is simple and restrained from the outside but sophisticated and materially rich inside.

Texture texture texture!

In this beautiful Spring sunshine these materials really do sing. Through careful choice of materials you can create depth, shadows and interest in a flat elevation. Texture can also make an interesting backdrop for plants, window openings and lighting. In today’s climate emergency we have a responsibility to start specifying sustainable materials that offer additional solutions for domestic clients.
