I went to see the Three Pagodas in Dali, China… but inevitably ended up looking at the trees 🌳🇨🇳

One of the things I love about travelling is discovering the plants and landscapes that surround historic places.

While visiting the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple in Yunnan, China, I found myself paying almost as much attention to the trees as the pagodas themselves — from towering conifers to beautiful mature specimens creating shade throughout the temple gardens.

Here are a few that caught my eye 🌿

🌱 One of the things I enjoy most about creating show gardens is seeing what happens after the event. 🌱

Last week, after Sandringham Flower Show had finished, I visited to see how some of the materials from the exhibition had already found a new purpose.

Meadow turf, plants and planters that had been part of the display are now helping to create beautiful spaces for patients, families and visitors to enjoy.

It's wonderful to know that these materials will continue to make a positive difference long after the show has ended.☀️

A huge thank you to everyone at Tapping House Hospice for showing me around, and to everyone who helped make the relocation possible.

Sustainability 🌎 isn't just about reducing waste – it's about creating lasting value and giving gardens a life beyond the show.

It's the final day of the RHS Sandringham Flower Show! 🌿

Before the gates open this morning, here's a little behind-the-scenes look around the show.

The day starts with watering the Head Gardeners' Garden before visitors arrive, then it's time to explore some of the inspiring ideas on display.

In this reel you'll see: 🌱 The beautiful Mindful Chef Garden by Sophie Goober, featuring innovative 3D-printed bird and habitat boxes made from sawdust and corn starch

⚡ Kitty Kovács' garden, showcasing .official fascinating BIOO soil cells, which generate electricity from the natural activity of microorganisms in the soil.

It's been a privilege to be part of this year's show, and if you're planning to visit today, I'd love to see you at the Head Gardeners' Garden before the show closes at 5pm.

Which of these innovations fascinates you most?

Day 1 at the RHS Sandringham Flower Show 🌿

The gates are open and it's been wonderful to have the chance to explore some of the fantastic gardens and displays created by so many talented designers, growers and exhibitors.

One of the things I love most about flower shows is the incredible variety of ideas and inspiration around every corner. Every garden tells a different story, and it's always exciting to see how each designer has approached their brief.

Here's a little look at some of the highlights that caught my eye today. I hope you enjoy the walk around as much as I did!

After a long day yesterday putting the finishing touches in place, the Head Gardeners' Garden is finally ready.

This morning, the gates open for Sandringham Flower Show, and I can't wait to welcome visitors to a display celebrating 21 of the UK's RHS Partner Gardens, their Head Gardeners, and the incredible work they do every day.

A huge thank you to the volunteers, the RHS team, and everyone who has helped bring this project together over the past few weeks. It's been a real team effort.

If you're visiting Sandringham today, I'd love to know what you think. See you at the show! 🌿

🌿 One of the biggest challenges of creating a flower show garden is timing.

Every plant needs to reach its best at exactly the right moment. Some are just coming into flower, others are fading, and every day we're carefully selecting what will make it into the display.

Here's a little look behind the scenes at the plants we're preparing for the RHS Sandringham Flower Show. Over the next few days these will begin making their way into the Head Gardeners' Courtyard as the garden comes together.

It's always exciting to see everything transform from a collection of individual plants into a finished garden. I can't wait to share the finished result with you! 🌸🌾

One of the unexpected highlights of this week's Flower Show at Badminton has been the opportunity to step inside Badminton House.

It's not often you get to wander through rooms and corridors that are normally private, so I thought I'd share a little glimpse behind the scenes.

This weekend it's time to pack up before heading to the RHS Sandringham Flower Show, where I'll be spending next week. Hopefully I'll have plenty more gardens and behind-the-scenes moments to share from there too. 🌿🏡

Have you ever visited Badminton House?

🌿 The gates are now open at the RHS Flower Show, Badminton!

After sharing a quiet behind-the-scenes look inside the Floral Marquee last night, I thought I'd take you on a quick tour of a few of the gardens that really caught my eye today.

It's always inspiring to see the different ideas, planting styles and creative details that each designer brings to a flower show. There are some wonderful gardens here, and these are just a few that stood out to me.

If you're visiting the show, I'd love to know which garden is your favourite. And if you can't make it, I hope this gives you a flavour of what it's like to wander around on a beautiful summer's day.

🌿 A quiet moment last night Badminton Flower show before it opens today...

After everyone had gone home last night, I had the Floral Marquee all to myself. It's a rare chance to pause and appreciate all the hard work that's gone into creating this year's displays before the doors open.

Some amazing displays including
And . I also created a small version of my RHS Chelsea Flower Show display here and it's been lovely to see everything finally come together.

The show opens this morning at 10am, and I'll be sharing some of the gardens from around the show a little later today.

If you're visiting over the next few days, do come and say hello!

🌿 A quieter visit to this week.

The weather was cool, a little damp, and not what many people would call "perfect" but I think that's exactly what made it so enjoyable.

One of the things I love about gardens is that they change with the weather. Rain deepens the colours, the scents seem stronger, and there are far fewer people, making it easier to slow down and really notice what's around you.

We often wait for a perfect day, but sometimes the most memorable days happen when things are different from what you might expect 🌱
