Could the access method be costing more than the repair itself?
It’s a question we think property teams and surveyors should be asking more often.
A high-level repair does not automatically mean scaffolding is the only option.
Depending on the building and the work involved, you could use:
• Rope access.
• Cherry pickers.
• Scaffold.
• Pole systems.
• Temporary access solutions.
Or, in some cases, a combination of several.
We call this Hybrid Access.
The idea is simple:
Look at where the work is.
Understand what needs to be done.
Then choose the access method that suits each part of the building.
Rather than choosing one method out of habit and making every repair fit around it.
It’s a topic we cover in our Hybrid Access CPDs for surveyors and property teams.
We look at practical examples of how different access methods can work together, where each option has its place, and how thinking about access earlier can help reduce avoidable cost and
disruption.
No hard sell.
Just useful information you can take back to your next specification or maintenance programme.
