We’re delighted that 10 Salisbury Square has been shortlisted for the NLA Awards 2026 in the Retrofit – Unbuilt category.

Demonstrating the art of the retrofit possible, the design uses targeted intervention to unlock transformational change and create a distinctive sense of place:

A new identity created with a simple whitewash treatment on the existing brick façade.

Carefully positioned extensions maximise development potential with 20% additional area, while maintaining heritage views.

A new four-storey oriel window creating exceptional close-up views of Grade I listed St Bride’s Church.

A transformed St Bride’s Courtyard providing new biodiverse, climate-resilient public space for the community.

The result is a highly differentiated workplace proposition that commands attention in a competitive office market.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Lunch at Guildhall on 19 November.

We look forward to celebrating with the other shortlisted teams.

Our Head of Sustainability, Michael Macias, recently visited a local scrap metal merchant to recycle aluminium samples from one of our projects.

These mock-ups were manufactured in Austria, so sending them back wasn’t practical, either economically or environmentally. While many recycling companies charge to collect and process materials like these, we found a local scrap metal merchant who was able to keep the aluminium in circulation. Even better, they paid us for the metal, and the proceeds went towards office ice creams.

Aluminium has a high embodied carbon factor, meaning its production is highly energy-intensive. By recycling and reusing existing aluminium, we can significantly reduce carbon emissions, conserve valuable resources, and help keep materials in use for longer rather than becoming waste.

It’s a simple solution, but one that supports the circular economy and demonstrates how small, practical decisions can have a meaningful environmental impact.

A simple circular economy win.

Our Project One Great St Helen’s has been awarded a Special Mention in the Architecture + Renovation category at the Architizer A+ Awards.

A fantastic recognition for the entire project team.

Exciting news! We are proud to share that our project, 60 Threadneedle Street, has been announced as a finalist in the Mix Awards 2026 for Project of the Year – Workplace Interiors, 15–35k sq ft.

John Robertson Architects was appointed to reimagine and upgrade 60 Threadneedle Street, a prominent commercial building in the heart of the City of London.

Acquired as part of a long-term asset enhancement strategy, the project delivers best-in-class office accommodation through a series of carefully considered interventions, supporting the re-letting of the top floor while future-proofing the building for modern occupiers.

A refined interior scheme introduces a calm, contemporary palette, plush furnishings, and a carefully layered ambient and decorative lighting strategy, elevating shared spaces to contemporary hospitality standards while respecting the building’s heritage.

Our team is thrilled to receive recognition amongst the most exceptional commercial projects, products and people across the UK and Europe. The winners will be announced at the Mix Awards ceremony, on 25 June 2026. Fingers crossed!

Our recently completed refurbishment project, 20 Gresham Street, has just been published in AJ. The project repositions a 2008 City office building into a best-in-class workplace, combining high-quality design with enhanced performance and user experience. The transformation centres on a reimagined arrival space, where a series of carefully curated architectural interventions and creative collaborations create a warm, hospitality-led environment, reinvigorating previously underused spaces and unlocking the building’s full potential.

Inspired by the building’s material identity, bespoke travertine sculptural seating and a crafted reception desk introduce a strong visual language while supporting interaction. Enhanced end-of-trip facilities promote active commuting, while 5,852m² of upgraded CAT A office space offers flexibility for future tenants. With significant reuse of existing materials alongside creative and practical new interventions, the project delivers a future-ready workplace rooted in context and longevity.

Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at JRA!

Today is a moment to recognise and celebrate the achievements, strengths, and contributions of women, both within our workplace and around the world. It’s also a reminder to continue championing equality, inclusion, and opportunity for everyone.

To mark this day, Architectural Assistant Sophia Yu, Associate Eirni Karamolegkou, Practice Manager Polly Litvinova and Director Nathalie Bergvall talk about the women who inspire them and reflect on what it means to be a woman in architecture.

At JRA, we are committed to maintaining an inclusive environment where every voice is heard. Our current gender balance is 51.9% female and 48.1% male, with gender parity at Director level. We actively promote equal opportunity and career progression across all roles and backgrounds.

A big thank you to all the incredible women across our team and the industry. Wishing everyone a wonderful International Women’s Day!

As we enter 2026, we are incredibly proud to reflect on a year of completed projects, community initiatives, and ongoing work at JRA.

With over 30 years of leadership in sustainable design and architectural innovation, we remain committed to preserving the best of the past while building a sustainable future.

This commitment is demonstrated through projects such as One Great St Helen’s, 60 Threadneedle Street, and ExCeL London, all completed last year.
2026 will also see the completion of several key projects, including 20 Gresham Street, a premium office building in the City of London; Daniel House, a Grade II-listed 1928 Art Deco building on Fleet Street that unites the former Daily Telegraph Building with Mersey House; and Peterborough Court, at 133 Fleet Street, and Tooley Street, a central London office renovation project.

Work also continues at St George’s Street, a deep-retrofit office building with a two-storey extension in Mayfair showcasing innovative timber construction techniques, while construction begins at 10 Salisbury Square, which will deliver the transformation of a 52,500 sq ft Grade A office space at the heart of the City’s emerging Justice Quarter, sustaining our momentum into the year ahead.

By prioritising the urban fabric of our cities and contributing sensitively to their context, JRA continues to evolve, shaping cities and communities through considered, impactful design.
