Employee Spotlight: Carmen Popovici

Today we’re shining a light on Carmen Popovici, our Senior Document Controller and a key member of our SHEQ Team.

Carmen plays a vital role in keeping our projects running smoothly managing drawings, specifications, and information flow between our clients, designers, and supply chain partners. Her attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to the Maylim Way make her one of our standout high performers.

Here’s a quick look into Carmen’s world:

Time at Maylim:
Three years and counting.

What she does:
“I make sure project documents are accurate, up‑to‑date, and shared with the right people at the right time. I love supporting our teams and keeping everything running efficiently.”

Background:
Nine years of document control experience and a passion for improving processes and communication.

Fun fact:
“I love spending time outdoors — hiking in the mountains, swimming, or going on adventures with friends.”

Outside of work:
Tennis, gym sessions, long walks in the woods, plus a love for cinema and trying new restaurants.

To read more about Carmen, you can find the full spotlight on our website.

The variation of smooth and textured paving adds the most beautiful subtle detail.

We’re delighted to announce Maylim’s sponsorship of the Ashover Barbarians ladies’ cricket team, one of the fastest‑growing women’s cricket groups in Derbyshire, with more than 40 players and nearly 50 matches this season.

This support is part of our wider commitment to grassroots sport, alongside our sponsorship of an Irish football team, youth football teams in Hertfordshire and World cycling champion and health advocate in Spain. Investing in community sport matters to us because it creates opportunities, builds confidence and brings people together.

As captain Jody Ren’s says:
“Since starting the ladies’ section just two years ago, we’ve become one of the largest in Derbyshire… Thank you Maylim for your amazing support.”

A big week for the Joseph Paxton bust. Standing 8ft tall and weighing 7.2 tonnes of solid marble, it was no small engineering feat to lift and relocate him but he’s now reinstated in his original position on the Italian Terraces at Crystal Palace Park.

Throwback to a project that continues to inspire us.

At the FCDO’s King Charles Quadrangle, Maylim worked closely with and Tectonix to deliver a courtyard that balances heritage with contemporary design.
From sourcing a perfect Yorkstone match to installing CNC‑cut geometric forms and revitalising historic steps with brass and basalt inlays, every detail was considered, crafted, and executed with care.

A proud moment in our portfolio, and a testament to what collaboration can achieve.

A pretty nature path along a natural desire line in the middle of Portlands, East Village, lovingly and carefully made by local and corporate volunteers from , using repurposed playground equipment carefully extracted from the neighbouring redevelopment of Belvedere PlaySpace by for ,with three tonnes of woodchip kindly provided by Mitie. The final work day made all the more perfect by a visit from both the manager and founder of who brought all the volunteers a free drink!

The why? When you create nature paths like this it helps define and separate the space for people and the space (to be left untrampled) for nature to thrive. Allowing people to connect with nature whilst managing footfall and protecting all the beautiful wildflowers that aren’t quite as hardy as grass.

Spring has arrived in Grosvenor Square, with the new cherry trees now in blossom.

Donated by The Sakura Project, these trees are among the 44 new trees being introduced as part of the square’s landmark transformation – adding seasonal interest while supporting the garden’s long-term biodiversity.

As planting progresses and we prepare for the garden to reopen later this summer, each new addition is helping to shape a more resilient and biodiverse landscape, designed to evolve through the seasons and create a space for people, wildlife and nature to thrive.

The trees are a gift from the people of Japan, and the Chairman of this project is Mr Keisaku Sandy Sano - a long time resident in the UK. Huge thanks to The Sakura Project for their generous contribution.
