Growth exposes every weakness in your business.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned building Shine Bright Cleaning is this:
Empower your people. Trust your people. Invest in your people.
For a long time, I believed that as long as I cared enough about our customers, the standard of the business would always remain high.
But as you grow, you realise something.
You can't personally be at every job.
You can't speak to every customer.
You can't check every window, gutter or property yourself.
And if the standard of the business depends entirely on you being there, you haven't really built a business, you've built yourself a job.
That was a big mindset shift for me.
I care deeply about Shine Bright. I care about the quality of our work, how we communicate and, most importantly, how our customers feel after dealing with us.
The challenge is making sure that same level of care runs through the entire team.
At first, it's easy to think that's simply a hiring problem.
But I've realised it's a leadership problem.
It starts with me.
My responsibility isn't to do everything myself.
It's to build people up, give them clear standards, give them responsibility and empower them to take ownership of the customer experience.
Because when your team feels valued and trusted, they're far more likely to make your customers feel valued too.
And when customers feel valued?
They stay.
They recommend you.
They come back.
That's the kind of company I'm working to build with Shine Bright Cleaning.
Not just a cleaning company that delivers great results when the owner is watching.
A company where excellence is part of the culture.
Where clarity meets excellence.
