We often hear this question: How long is an EICR valid?

📌 An EICR is valid for 5 years. However, some factors may affect the frequency of testing. For instance, the nature of the premises, how high-risk the environment is, the age and quality of the electrical installation, who is using it and how often, and how well the electrical installation is maintained.

📌 If the EICR returns with faults and difficulties, you must have any necessary corrective work completed within 28 days.

You should also keep your certificate and any associated paperwork because your local authorities may request it at any time. If you are a landlord, you are also legally required to provide copies of the EICR to your current renters.
