A substantial extension, renovation or new build creates hundreds of decisions but the homeowner should not have to coordinate every dependency behind them.

An organised building team keeps the whole picture in view: what needs confirming, which trade follows which, when materials are required and how one choice affects another.

That oversight has real value. It reduces the number of loose ends landing back with the homeowner and gives the project a clearer route from drawings to finished home.

A garage conversion is one of the most cost effective ways to add proper usable space to your home without extending outward.

Where will materials be stored? How will deliveries reach the property? What needs to remain accessible? How will the site stay secure and orderly?

On a residential project, space is often limited and the surrounding street or neighbouring homes still need to function.

Thinking through those practical details early helps reduce avoidable disruption and gives each stage of work a better foundation.

Site set-up is rarely the part anyone saves to an inspiration board. It is, however, one of the first signs that a project is being managed with care.

"We just don't know what it would cost" is one of the most common things we hear. 💬

And it's completely understandable — cost is usually the first worry, before people even think about design or timings.

Here's the honest bit: it depends on the size, scope and spec of the project. There's no single answer that fits every house.

But what we can always do is have a straightforward conversation, take a look, and give you a realistic idea — no pressure, no obligation.

Most people find it's less about "can we afford this" and more about "how do we prioritise what matters most."

Let's clear a few things up. 🙋‍♂️

❌ "Extensions always go over budget" — not if it's costed properly from the start
❌ "You need to move out during the build" — rarely true for most extensions
❌ "It'll take a year" — most projects are done in a fraction of that
❌ "Planning permission is a nightmare" — often simpler than people think (we covered this a few weeks back!)

A lot of people put projects off because of assumptions like these, not because of the reality.
