We are being asked how to save on energy costs a lot recently.

Turning your boiler temperature down is a good way to save but you have to be aware that this may cause issues with the heating.

If you have a smaller property, turning the heating temperature down to 60° can save upto £150 per year.

If you have a larger system you may find that your radiators do not get as hot as they used to.

Changing an old boiler for a new efficient boiler is another good way to save on energy costs.

Sharing this again because it’s likely people woke up this morning with no heating and hot water.

If you woke up with an error code on your boiler with no previous issues then it is likely a frozen condense pipe if it runs outside. Boil a kettle and pour it over the white pipe outside and it should fix the issue.

If your boiler has an error code that identifies as ignition failure then in this weather it is most likely a frozen condense. After hearing the devastating news of the young 4 year old girl who lost her life in a gas explosion earlier this week we would like to share some information that may help someone in the future.

If you smell gas, turn off your gas meter using the emergency control valve. Open the windows and vacate the property.

Do not use light switches or anything that would spark like a lighter.

The emergency number 0800 111 999 will have someone with you within 2 hours if you mention a gas leak. It’s free and they will make it safe.

A Carbon monoxide detector is a great thing to own but it does not detect gas leaks, only carbon monoxide.

If you’re ever in doubt turn it off and call someone.
