Kim Loddo, of Inglis Badrashi Loddo, will discuss Walled Courtyard House, a hidden London home within a historic former walled garden plot at 'Daylight in Architecture 2026'.

Hosted by the AJ and VELUX on Wednesday 14 October, the event will bring together architects and daylighting experts to explore the technical, sensory and health-giving qualities of daylight in architecture. The evening will open with three case studies from architectural practices, each showcasing a recent residential project covered by the AJ looking at the different ways daylight has informed its design.

Join the AJ and VELUX for a free evening event at the Barbican exploring the modelling, manipulation and health-giving benefits of daylight in architecture – and how architects can bring more daylight into the home

Pleased to see our Cleaver Square project covered in BD.

"Environmental measures include high levels of insulation, underfloor heating, an air source heat pump and a sedum roof. The planted roof is also intended to restore the visual impression of a garden when viewed from neighbouring buildings."

Our latest completed project has been featured in Architecture Today.

"The completed scheme retains the hierarchy and generous proportions of the former council building while accommodating the services and circulation required by its new use."

"The challenge wasn’t simply converting an old office building into apartments. It was understanding how the building originally worked and allowing that logic to shape the new design."

Inglis Badrashi Loddo has transformed a Grade II-listed former council building in north-west London into five apartments.

"A Hidden Gem.

The kind of project where every detail has a reason.

A new house concealed behind a reconstructed garden wall in Kennington. Designed by Inglis Badrashi Loddo and built around a central courtyard, Cleaver Square sits quietly within its Georgian conservation setting without announcing itself. The project was published in Dezeen, the Architects Journal, New Atlas and Yanko Design, and featured in Dezeen’s top five houses of June 2026."

Thanks Mandarin Stone for the lovely article

A house that gives nothing away from the street, and everything once you’re inside.

“The plan refuses to feel cramped because the architects choreographed sightlines rather than simply subdividing rooms.

“An open kitchen and dining area anchors the centre, opening onto the courtyard through sliding glazed doors, its calm overhead broken by the rhythm of white-washed timber joists and grounded by a custom plywood kitchen.”
