Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG) is delighted to announce the award of a multi-million-pound specialist handset brickwork package in Knightsbridge.

While the project itself remains confidential, this commission exemplifies everything we stand for: quality, craft, and collaboration. Over the past year, we have been heavily engaged in pre-construction with the client and their representatives — addressing detailed brick and stone design buildability, programme and logistical challenges, and, most importantly, safeguarding the integrity of the façade expression through meticulous brickwork design.

This package will see our teams utilise handmade bricks and bespoke brick specials, ensuring that the finished elevations achieve a richness and authenticity worthy of their prestigious setting.

Knightsbridge itself is synonymous with heritage and exclusivity. Home to world-renowned landmarks such as Harrods, Hyde Park, and some of the capital’s most valuable residential and commercial addresses, it has long stood as one of London’s most desirable districts — celebrated for its architectural quality, history, and international reputation for luxury. To play a role in shaping the fabric of this area is both a privilege and a responsibility.

Handset brickwork is more than just construction — it is a tradition of patience, precision and permanence. From South Audley to Belgravia, Harley Street to Regent Street, our portfolio reflects how these values continue to define London’s architectural identity.

𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗡 – 𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡, 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘!

Yesterday evening, Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG) had the privilege of attending the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers’ final dinner of the Master’s year, held at the historic Apothecaries’ Hall, Blackfriars.

Managing Director, Lee Campbell, along with other industry guests attended alongside our Chairman, Tony Yianni – a proud Liveryman, Court Assistant, and Craft Committee member, together with industry guests.

Livery companies were originally founded to safeguard standards and quality within the trades. Today, they not only preserve those traditions but also play a vital role in supporting education, apprenticeships, and charitable causes.

At Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG), now in our 40th year, we share that same commitment. Handset brickwork remains a craft of huge importance, and we are dedicated to ensuring its future by training apprentices, developing homegrown talent, and delivering meaningful social value within the communities where we build.

The evening served as a powerful reminder that while methods evolve, the values of craft, skill, and responsibility to the next generation remain as important today as they were centuries ago.

Our thanks go to Clerk Heather Smith for yet another brilliantly organised evening, and to Master Jenny Rolls for her leadership and dedication throughout her year in office.

Our Project & Design Director, Anthony “Tobo” Yianni, smashed the Grayson (GB) Ltd, Visqueen DPC Front Arm Raise Challenge with a time of 2 minutes 27 seconds. Shoulders of Granite!

A fun day and a big shot of positivity for the trade at a time when it’s most needed. As we said in our last post, we’re doubling down on training homegrown youngsters—building skills here through real apprenticeships and progression, not simply importing labour. If you’re a school, college, or a young person who wants a rewarding career in construction, get in touch.

Oh, and the world record for a front arm raise… anyone got the official number? Drop it in the comments—we’re curious. Either way, Tobo’s taking on all comers next year. Training starts now!

Our trade’s future depends on it — and yesterday showed exactly how we keep it alive!

Super Trowel (UK) 2025 at Stoneleigh Park Events, Coventry was everything that’s great about bricklaying — speed, skill, craftsmanship, and a buzzing sense of community. The UK’s fastest and most skilled bricklayers went head-to-head in an electrifying display of talent.

It’s incredible to see how far this event has come. Just three years ago, the very first Super Trowel (UK) took place at our longstanding training partners Hertford Regional College. Fast forward to today, and it’s now a national showcase, attracting huge crowds, top suppliers, and an impressive mix of homegrown young talent and well-renowned industry names.

A huge congratulations to Super Trowel (UK) directors Jack Dawson, Ashley Francis MCIOB ACABE, and Joe Short for once again delivering such a fantastic event. The growth, professionalism, and energy around this competition is a credit to your hard work and vision. 👏

But events like this are about far more than titles and trophies. They are critical for our industry’s future — sparking passion, inspiring ambition, and enticing homegrown youth to join our great trade. In a sector where skilled labour shortages are real, nurturing our own talent ensures the craft stays alive and thriving.

The benefits are huge — for society, for the economy, and for the country. Investing in homegrown skills strengthens communities, creates careers for life, and builds an industry that is self-sufficient, resilient, and world-class.

𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗡 – 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗛𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 – 𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗨𝗦 𝗔𝗟𝗟!

This weekend the scaffold and office got swapped for great food, great drink and a good old get-together — laughter, stories, and a well-earned break as some of the Winchmore Brickwork Group team came together for our Summer Meal.

Site workers, office staff, directors, labourers, apprentices — even familiar faces from days gone by, we don’t see day to day but who will always be part of the Winchmore family — all under one roof.
A proper get-together, a chance to unwind and celebrate how far we’ve come, and this year, it meant that little bit more.

2025 marks 40 years of continuous trading.
Same company. Same values. Bigger and better every year.

We’ve never been busier. We’ve never been stronger as a team.
And we’ve never been more excited for what’s ahead.

Young, ambitious, driven — from apprentice to director, every role matters. And every person is part of something we’re proud to call a family.

Here’s to the next chapter. We’re only just getting started.

Momentum is building at Stratford Mill, as Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG) continues its work alongside longstanding and much-valued client GRAHAM Building, led by Senior Project Manager Jaco Enslin, on this flagship Build to Rent scheme in East London, part of the London 2012 Olympics legacy.

With a range of complex brickwork bonds and detailed coordination with multiple trades, this is a project where experience, planning, and precision are critical. Our teams are working collaboratively on-site to keep the programme moving smoothly and safely.

It’s fantastic to see the scheme taking shape, with design development and delivery benefitting from early engagement between Winchmore Brickwork Group, GRAHAM, and key supply chain partners such as IG Masonry Support once again.

More to follow as the brick façades continue to rise and the buildings start to come to life on the Stratford skyline.

Now in its fifth year, having first been introduced by Glen Roberts MCIOB of Wates Group, our partnership with Fun Friends Groups something we at Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG) are incredibly proud of — and last Friday evening was another special reminder of just how important this support can be.

In loving memory of our Chairman Tony Yianni’s late mother, the group attended the musical Oliver! — a now cherished annual tradition known as “Margaret’s Day”.

A fantastic evening was had by all, filled with music, laughter, and joy. What made it even more touching was the flurry of kind messages received from the young adults who attended — as well as their parents — sharing how much the evening meant to them.

It’s moments like these that reflect the true meaning of social value: real people, real lives, real impact.

As Tony often says, “if we are lucky enough to achieve success in business, we must also share that success with our communities.”

Thank you as always to Esther and the Fun Friends team for your energy, compassion, and tireless work. We are honoured to walk alongside you and hope Margaret’s Day continues to grow as a beacon of love, inclusion and kindness for years to come.

As the scaffold comes down at our Park Lane Mews project, we’re immensely proud to reflect on a project that showcases everything Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG) stands for—craftsmanship, collaboration, and commitment to quality.

Appointed as the specialist brick, block and restoration trade contractor for The Hertford, this complex Central London development has brought together refurbishment, heritage restoration, and new build elements—all executed within tight logistical constraints in the heart of Mayfair.

From the outset, this project has been underpinned by a first-class working relationship with our client The DE Group (UK) Ltd. Through early engagement, close coordination, and mutual respect, we’ve been proud to contribute to a stunning build that truly reflects the scale and ambition of the client’s investment.

Scope highlights included:
- Part demolition and refurbishment of 2–6 Stanhope Row
- Demolition of 16/17 Market Mews and new construction of an 82-bed hotel
- Refurbishment of the listed 36 Hertford Street
- Demolition and rebuild of 37 Hertford Street to create 16 high-end apartments

Multiple brick and mortar types, complex masonry support systems, and delicate heritage details all demanded the highest level of planning and ex*****on. We’re incredibly proud of our team on-site, who’ve delivered faultlessly in challenging conditions.

We’re delighted to welcome Luke Blackburn to Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG) as Senior Quantity Surveyor.

Luke brings with him over 25 years of specialist experience in the brickwork and façade industry. He is already proving to be a highly valued member of our team—bringing deep industry knowledge, strong commercial instincts, and a steady, solutions-driven mindset that fits seamlessly with how we operate.

As we continue to grow bigger and better year on year, we remain committed to expanding in a controlled, sustainable way—always focused on quality, reliability, and consistency. We’re incredibly proud to share that Jack Dawson of Hertford Regional College, a longstanding, and valued training partner of Winchmore Brickwork Group (WBG), has officially been welcomed as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers – having been put forward by our Chairman and Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers, and Craft Committee Member, Tony Yianni.

Jack’s recognition is richly deserved. A committed mentor and skilled craftsman, Jack continues to inspire and develop the next generation of bricklayers, helping preserve the quality and tradition that defines our trade.

We also send our warmest congratulations to Joe Short and Ashley Francis MCIOB ACABE, fellow Directors of Super Trowel (UK), who were also admitted as Freemen. Jack, Joe, and Ashley have not only made their mark on site and further education – they’ve built a national stage for bricklaying excellence.

Super Trowel (UK) is the ultimate bricklaying competition – showcasing the UK’s fastest, most precise, and most passionate bricklayers. It’s become a key event in the industry calendar, bringing together skill, speed, and celebration in a way that elevates the whole craft. Jack, Joe and Ashley’s drive and leadership have helped turn this into a movement, not just a contest.

This recognition by the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers is a fitting tribute to three individuals who continue to raise the bar – in education, in competition, and in pride for the trade.

Well done, Jack, Joe, and Ashley – your impact speaks for itself.
