Introducing Burton Mews (London, 2025).

As a studio, we’re drawn to raw materials, simplicity, and creating functional spaces with a touch of playfulness. For this London residence, we explored a tactile dialogue between opposing textures. Where cool, mineral structures are wrapped in the grounding warmth of natural timber.

Rather than stark contrasts, the design focuses on subtle balance and sustainable materiality. Warm wood surrounds raw surfaces, allowing light to cast soft gradients across every junction and turning structural transitions into moments of quiet, organic luxury.

A study in spatial sequence and light at Burton Mews.

By shaping the transition between private sanctuary and the open courtyard, the design allows daylight to continuously reshape the interior throughout the day. Central to our ethos, raw surfaces and natural light work together to define varying levels of intimacy, creating a quiet, secluded atmosphere without disconnecting from the open air.

Studio Pick: Reimagining the historic mansard roof at Burton Mews.

Attic spaces are so often defined by rigid slants and restrictive angles. Rather than masking these structural boundaries, we wanted to turn them into a central feature. By dissolving sharp intersections into continuous, seamless plaster, the architecture loses its traditional rigidity and takes on a living, fluid form.

Located in Boomarang Beach, NSW, the Blue House is situated in a suburban setting, just a few streets from the beachfront and elevated to capture stunning sea views through its vertical screens. By incorporating an artificial dune, we have successfully brought the beach to the house. This Cross Laminated Timber residence boasts exceptional sustainability, minimizing the use of concrete and steel.

Inspired by the organic geometry of a shell form.

For Burton Mews, the central staircase was conceived as an immersive experience rather than just vertical circulation. With no hard geometry, its enveloping contours and muffled acoustics create a sanctuary of quiet sensory warmth. Daylight enters from the oculus above, grazing smooth plaster surfaces rather than striking them.

This is not a house that demands to be seen, it is one meant to be felt
