Celebrating Our Graduates
IDSL is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of four of our graduates during the current academic year.
All four have received excellent feedback and recognition from their respective universities, not only for their academic performance, but also for their positive attitude, commitment to learning and continued development.
Courtney has successfully completed an Internal Auditing course, strengthening our Quality Assurance team. Courtney also plays a leading role in delivering our embodied carbon requirements across the business.
Taylor has successfully completed his first year of Quantity Surveying, having previously studied Law. His transition into the construction industry demonstrates his commitment to developing a career within the sector.
Charlie has achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying and will undertake his End Point Assessment with RICS next year, continuing his professional development towards chartered status.
Jay has successfully completed his first year of Mechanical Engineering, building on his previous Engineering degree and further strengthening his technical expertise.
John Smith, Director, commented:
“It is very easy to support and teach individuals when they have a thirst for knowledge. We continue to support all our divisions with continued education, and the feedback from the universities has been excellent for all four individuals.”
We are incredibly proud of Courtney, Taylor, Charlie and Jay and look forward to seeing their continued development and success at IDSL.
Congratulations to all four on these fantastic achievements! 👏🎓

Powering the Future of IDSL.

Another important milestone has been reached at our new 35,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, with the installation of our new solar panel system now underway.

The panels have been delivered and installed on the roof this week, marking another significant step towards creating a more sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing environment.

The system is being installed by Carbon3 and includes solar generation with battery storage, allowing us to make greater use of renewable energy generated at the facility.

Sustainability has been a key consideration throughout the development of our new facility, which has been designed to improve energy efficiency while supporting IDSL’s long-term growth and manufacturing capability.

We’re looking forward to sharing some views from the roof as the installation progresses.

Imperial Ductwork Services Ltd (IDSL) are pleased to announce the successful completion of a new-build project in Central London.

The project comprised a complete shell and core installation, including dedicated plant areas at both roof and basement levels, with comprehensive riser distribution across eight floors.

As part of the project, IDSL manufactured and installed the ductwork systems, alongside supplying and installing passive fire protection products. These solutions supported the project’s embodied carbon reduction targets, while maintaining the required levels of fire safety, compliance and performance.

We are proud to have delivered another high-quality project, working closely with the wider project team to achieve the required standards of quality, performance and sustainability.

Another key stage in the fit-out of our new manufacturing facility is taking shape.
Work is progressing on the mezzanine level within our new 35,000 sq ft facility, with the installation of ductwork and associated services continuing to move forward.
The mezzanine forms an important part of the facility’s layout, helping to maximise the available space and support the efficient operation of our new manufacturing environment.
As the internal fit-out progresses, the scale and potential of the facility are becoming increasingly clear. This investment will provide IDSL with significantly increased manufacturing capacity, enhanced operational efficiency and the space to support our continued growth.
We’re looking forward to seeing the next stages come together and sharing further updates as our new facility takes shape.

At IDSL, we believe that developing our people is just as important as delivering exceptional projects.
That's why we continue to invest in training and professional development across every level of the business—from Estimators and Trainee Engineers to CAD Draughtspersons and Project Managers.
We're delighted to congratulate eight members of our team who have successfully passed the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) Level 2 qualification. This achievement strengthens our collective knowledge of passive fire protection and reinforces our commitment to delivering compliant, high-quality solutions for our clients.
As Director John Smith explains:
"Continually developing our team's knowledge of passive fire products and their applications ensures we can provide the highest level of expertise to meet the needs of our clients and the demands of today's construction industry."
These achievements, together with our recent successful LPCB audits, reflect IDSL's ongoing commitment to quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
Congratulations to everyone involved.

A proud and memorable occasion for Imperial Ductwork Services Ltd.

Dean Barnes and John Barnes have been formally admitted as Freemen of the City of London, receiving their Freeman declarations during the traditional ceremony at the historic Guildhall.

Dating back to the 13th century, the Freedom of the City of London is one of the City’s oldest surviving traditions. Historically, it granted individuals the right to trade and conduct business within the Square Mile. Today, it remains a respected ceremonial honour and represents a lasting connection to the City of London’s heritage, civic life and long-established traditions.

The award is a significant personal achievement for both Dean and John, and a proud moment for everyone associated with Imperial Ductwork Services Ltd.

Congratulations to them both on receiving this distinguished honour.

Progress continues at our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The internal fit-out is now well underway, with one of the most important elements taking shape — the installation of our new ductwork systems. As ductwork specialists, it's fitting that one of the first major services to be installed is the very product we design, manufacture and install every day.
Every stage of this project brings us closer to opening a facility that will significantly increase our manufacturing capacity, improve operational efficiency, and support the next phase of IDSL's growth.
We look forward to sharing more updates as our new 35,000 sq ft manufacturing facility continues to take shape.

Looking after health, wellbeing, and safety includes recognising when support may be needed.

Alcohol and drug-related issues can affect anyone. The earlier concerns are identified and addressed, the more likely it is that individuals can access support before a serious incident occurs.

If you are worried about your own alcohol or drug use, don't ignore the signs. Reaching out for help is a positive step that can protect your health, wellbeing, career, and safety.

Equally important is speaking up if you are concerned about a colleague.

If someone appears impaired, unusually fatigued, or not fit for work, raising your concerns could prevent an injury or save a life.
At IDSL, support is available through:

Your line manager
The Health & Safety team
Human Resources
Employee wellbeing support services

Creating a safe workplace is everyone's responsibility. Looking out for one another and having the confidence to speak up helps ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.

If you need help, ask for it.
If you have concerns, raise them.
If you see something unsafe, speak up.

Every role in construction relies on workers being alert, focused, and capable of making safe decisions.

Alcohol, drugs, and fatigue can all affect a person's fitness for work. Even small levels of impairment can reduce reaction times, impact judgement, affect coordination, and increase the likelihood of mistakes.
On a construction site, those consequences can be serious.

Whether operating plant, driving vehicles, working at height, lifting materials, or carrying out routine tasks, impaired decision-making can put both the individual and their colleagues at risk of injury.

Some signs that a person may not be fit for work include:
Reduced concentration or awareness
Slower reactions
Poor judgement or decision-making
Increased risk-taking behaviour
Fatigue caused by lack of sleep

Being fit for work means arriving ready to perform your duties safely and effectively every day.

At IDSL, safety depends on every individual making responsible choices and recognising when they may not be fit to carry out their work safely.
Protect yourself. Protect your team. Arrive fit for work.

Men's Health Week 2026 | 15th – 21st June
This week is Men's Health Week, a chance to shine a light on the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing and encourage more open conversations about health.
At IDSL, we're proud to work alongside dedicated teams who help deliver high-quality ductwork and ventilation systems across a wide range of projects. But beyond the work we do, it's the people behind it that matter most.
The construction and engineering sectors can be demanding, and it's easy to put your own wellbeing on the back burner. Men's Health Week is a reminder to make time for yourself, whether that's booking a check-up, getting active, talking through what's on your mind, or simply taking a break when you need one.
Looking after your health isn't a sign of weakness — it's one of the most important investments you can make.
This week, and every week, let's continue to support one another, check in with our colleagues, friends and family, and help create a culture where talking about health is encouraged.
Because healthy people build stronger teams.
