Looking after health, wellbeing, and safety includes recognising when support may be needed.

Alcohol and drug-related issues can affect anyone. The earlier concerns are identified and addressed, the more likely it is that individuals can access support before a serious incident occurs.

If you are worried about your own alcohol or drug use, don't ignore the signs. Reaching out for help is a positive step that can protect your health, wellbeing, career, and safety.

Equally important is speaking up if you are concerned about a colleague.

If someone appears impaired, unusually fatigued, or not fit for work, raising your concerns could prevent an injury or save a life.
At IDSL, support is available through:

Your line manager
The Health & Safety team
Human Resources
Employee wellbeing support services

Creating a safe workplace is everyone's responsibility. Looking out for one another and having the confidence to speak up helps ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.

If you need help, ask for it.
If you have concerns, raise them.
If you see something unsafe, speak up.

Every role in construction relies on workers being alert, focused, and capable of making safe decisions.

Alcohol, drugs, and fatigue can all affect a person's fitness for work. Even small levels of impairment can reduce reaction times, impact judgement, affect coordination, and increase the likelihood of mistakes.
On a construction site, those consequences can be serious.

Whether operating plant, driving vehicles, working at height, lifting materials, or carrying out routine tasks, impaired decision-making can put both the individual and their colleagues at risk of injury.

Some signs that a person may not be fit for work include:
Reduced concentration or awareness
Slower reactions
Poor judgement or decision-making
Increased risk-taking behaviour
Fatigue caused by lack of sleep

Being fit for work means arriving ready to perform your duties safely and effectively every day.

At IDSL, safety depends on every individual making responsible choices and recognising when they may not be fit to carry out their work safely.
Protect yourself. Protect your team. Arrive fit for work.

Men's Health Week 2026 | 15th – 21st June
This week is Men's Health Week, a chance to shine a light on the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing and encourage more open conversations about health.
At IDSL, we're proud to work alongside dedicated teams who help deliver high-quality ductwork and ventilation systems across a wide range of projects. But beyond the work we do, it's the people behind it that matter most.
The construction and engineering sectors can be demanding, and it's easy to put your own wellbeing on the back burner. Men's Health Week is a reminder to make time for yourself, whether that's booking a check-up, getting active, talking through what's on your mind, or simply taking a break when you need one.
Looking after your health isn't a sign of weakness — it's one of the most important investments you can make.
This week, and every week, let's continue to support one another, check in with our colleagues, friends and family, and help create a culture where talking about health is encouraged.
Because healthy people build stronger teams.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to bring plenty of excitement, with matches taking place across different time zones and many games being broadcast late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
For those planning to enjoy the action, it's important to think ahead.

Alcohol can remain in the body much longer than many people realise. A late-night celebration or a few extra drinks during a match could mean you are still affected when it's time to start work the next day. The same applies to recreational drugs and the misuse of prescription medications.

In construction, being impaired doesn't just affect the individual. It can increase the risk of incidents involving plant, vehicles, tools, working at height, and other site activities where concentration and awareness are critical.

As you support your team this World Cup:

⚽ Plan ahead if you're drinking.
⚽ Consider how late kick-off times may affect your rest and recovery.
⚽ Ensure you are fit for work before attending site.
⚽ Never attend work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
⚽ Look after yourself and those around you.

At IDSL, we want everyone to enjoy the tournament while ensuring that safety remains our number one priority.

At IDSL, we know that strong environments are built through collaboration, respect, and inclusion.
This Pride Month, we’re proud to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and recognise the importance of creating workplaces where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to be themselves. 🌈
As specialists in the manufacture and installation of ductwork ventilation systems, we understand that every project performs best when different perspectives, skills, and experiences come together with a shared purpose.
Throughout June, we stand alongside those championing equality, diversity, and acceptance — within our industry and beyond.
Happy Pride Month 2026 from all of us at IDSL.

IDSL are nearing completion on a prestigious Central London project, delivering a complex ventilation package across basement and roof plantrooms, with distribution spanning eight floors.
A key element of the project involved the design and manufacture of bespoke air source heat pump plenums. Working closely in collaboration with both the client and equipment supplier, the IDSL team developed a tailored solution that satisfied strict planning and height restrictions due to the building’s high-profile neighbouring surroundings.
This project highlights IDSL’s ability to combine technical expertise, collaboration, and innovative design to meet challenging project requirements within demanding city environments.

Honouring 81 Years of Peace – VE Day 2026
Today, we mark 81 years since Victory in Europe Day – a moment in history that brought an end to World War II in Europe and signalled hope, resilience, and unity across nations.
At IDSL, we take time to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who served, as well as the generations who have worked tirelessly to rebuild and protect the communities we live and work in today.
Their legacy reminds us of the importance of strength, collaboration, and responsibility – values that continue to guide us in everything we do.
We remember. We reflect. We honour.

IDSL are pleased to announce the successful completion of a multi-use development project located on the borders of Westminster and the City of London.
Commencing in November 2025, the project was delivered through a carefully managed phased programme, enabling early handover to the client. This structured approach has allowed the client to achieve beneficial use ahead of the original programme, supporting earlier occupancy and operational readiness.
A great example of collaborative planning, efficient delivery, and adding real value through programme optimisation.
