Single Bay Oak Garage

A single bay oak garage is often where clients start. Simple, well-proportioned, and built to last.

It is a practical addition that protects vehicles while adding genuine character to a property. Crafted from green oak using traditional joints, it weathers naturally and sits comfortably alongside both period and modern homes.

A small structure, done properly, still makes a lasting statement.

Our latest project is heading into production soon - a bespoke oak gazebo for a client in Essex.

Designed to create a substantial outdoor living space, the frame combines traditional oak craftsmanship with a clean, practical layout that will sit beautifully within the finished setting.

We’re looking forward to seeing this one move from drawings into manufacture and, ultimately, taking shape on site.

Traditional craftsmanship. A modern approach.

Three bay oak garages are a great option when you want flexibility as well as storage.

This design combines open parking bays with a fully enclosed bay, giving you the best of both - sheltered space for vehicles and a secure area for tools, equipment or storage.

Every Southern Oak frame can be adapted around the way you want to use the building.

A log store is one of those small additions that can make a big difference to an oak-framed garage.

Built into the frame, it keeps firewood covered, well ventilated and close to hand - without needing a separate structure taking up more space in the garden.

It also looks like it belongs there.

If you’re already designing an oak garage, it’s worth thinking about how you’ll actually use the building day to day. A log store, bin store, workshop area or additional storage can all be incorporated into the design from the outset.

Simple, practical and in keeping with the frame.

Before you request a quote, it helps to understand what you’re actually choosing.

Planning permission, foundations, materials, roofing, joinery, glazing, costs and long-term care can all influence the success of an oak-framed building.

That’s why Southern Oak created the Oak Framing Knowledge Centre.

It brings together practical guides to help you make informed decisions, whether you’re considering an oak-framed garage, garden room, gazebo, porch or solar carport.

We’re delighted to share that our Founder and Managing Director, Sonia Robinson, has been announced as a speaker at the sold-out Women in Timber UK Seminar 2026.

Sonia will share her experience of starting again, entering a traditionally male-dominated industry and building Southern Oak into the nationwide oak-framing specialist it is today.

The event takes place at Oulton Hall near Leeds this October, bringing together more than 120 women from across forestry, manufacturing, timber supply, architecture, design and construction.

A fantastic recognition of Sonia’s journey and everything she has built through Southern Oak.
