CSP are delighted to continue to assist, as Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers, the Port of Tilbury Grain Terminal, on reconstruction of the 10 new steel silos for Silo Bin 3, as featured on BBC -https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-59459372.
The construction of Silo Bin 3 consists of 10 new steel 30m high silos with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes due to be back on line for the 2022 harvest. The Silo Bin 3 phase of works is being undertaken by TH White Installation Ltd.
We also continue to support the Grain Terminal in the reconstruction of Silo Bin 4, damaged in the fire July 2020, of 30 silos, 30m high, in reinforced concrete due for completion in 2023. A Letter of Intent for the reconstruction of Silo Bin 4 has been issued to PJ Carey (Contractors) Ltd with M&E aspects being undertaken by TH White Installation Ltd under contract to PJ Careys.

Conversion and Extension of Westgate House, West Gate, Ealing.

This recently completed redevelopment to a residential block was commissioned by Westgate House Developments Limited with the conversion from general offices under permitted development rights and the extension subject to a separate planning application.
The three storey extension required an extensive audit of the existing structure, loadings and fire resistance, together with an evaluation of the building stability both pre and post extension with CSP as the structural engineer.

Dearden House, West Gate, Ealing.

This recently completed new residential block, located to the rear of Westgate House, was commissioned by Westgate House Developments Limited.
The structure is designed to suit the limitations of loading applied to the ground legislated for along the HS2 route as the building is located directly over the HS2 running tunnels. The compliance with the loading constraints was achieved using a lightweight reinforced concrete frame and lightweight cladding systems.

Ownership of the building is now transferred to Broadway Living Limited.

CSP acted as structural engineers for both jobs.

Port of Tilbury's Grain Terminal Silo rebuild gets underway!

Major building work is underway at the UK’s largest grain terminal at the Port of Tilbury following a fire in 2020 which damaged its grain silos. CSP became involved from the Silo explosion 3rd July 2020 being appointed Civil and Structural Engineering’s Consultants undertaking structural damage and potential repair evaluation, continuing to full design of the civil and structural engineering replacement of Silo Bin 4.

Since April 2020, HE&D Commercial and Industrial Electrical Contractors have been working together with CSP under the ‘IBG Group’ umbrella! They have rewired our offices inline with the new layout necessary to comply with the Coronavirus social distancing laws. “Social distancing is a key part of our business’s risk assessment and is one of the steps needed to make our workplace COVID-secure. The new office layout is still a work-in-progress but we are getting there” says Director of CSP Alan Pipe.

Abseiling/Rope Access on Factory Chimney Stack

A world renowned factory sitting on the side of the Thames near the QE2 Bridge, most all of the UK’s washing and household products are made there!

Shutting down the plant for even a few minutes costs the company hundreds of thousands of pounds in lost revenue, therefore we were called in to survey and report the internal degradation on the huge Chimney stack as fast as possible.

We utilised a confined space team of Rope Access technicians under our guidance to scale the chimney and compile a conditional report both inside and out in the minimum amount of time. Further to the report we are now in the process to complete and repair/install a new lining product and bring the chimney back to 100% efficiency.

Hendon Hall Site

CSP are the Structural Engineers responsible for the design and detailing of the new concrete framed building including the piled foundations and basement structures.

CSP are also the Structural Engineers for the assessment, renovation, repair and upgrading of the existing Listed Hendon Hall building on the same site.

CSP are also the drainage design engineers for the development.

CSP have been appointed by NUDURA to update their technical literature to include the use of mass concrete walls for residential use.

The design is being led by Professor Narayanan of CSP.

This follows from CSP previously completing design tables for the use of the product.

The new Signature Wandsworth Care home officially opened on 30th March 2020.

CSP are to delighted to have been part of the design team that delivered the care home in a busy urban location.
The care home was constructed directly over a major Thames Water relief sewer, which required detailed liaison with Thames Water Engineers to obtain approval for the design.

This one of numerous projects that CSP have completed for Signature and we are very proud to be part of their excellent team.

On 20th February 2020 the Royal Star and Garter home in High Wycombe was opened officially by HRH Princess Alexandra.

Director Alan Pipe was there to represent CSP and was one of the fortunate people selected to meet Her Royal Highness.
This is the second home that CSP have had the honour to be Engineers for the charity and it was brilliant to see the home fully operational.
