Have you checked your boiler and heating are working yet?

Try boosting the boiler (or putting on constant for an hour) and turning up the thermostat to check all is working well, this way you can check if you’ve got a problem before it gets chilly out.

Hot water and heating on when you don’t want it?

If your hot water and heating are on when you don’t want it or perhaps on constantly, you could simply be putting money down the drain.

Your boiler will be using gas when it’s not needed, and at around 3-5p per kilowatt that’s up to £1.80 an hour being spent for no reason.

The simple fix to saving money, change your programmers settings to reflect when you need hot water and heating, say 3 hours in the morning turning off as you or your family leave the house, and 5 hours in the evening.

Hot water, if you’ve a cylinder, will take 30 minutes to an hour to warm up, so run it for a little longer.

Flush Heating were called out to a single floor flat, where the water pressure was so low the owner couldn’t have a shower. Other plumbers had attended with no luck in fixing the problem, or getting the toilet to fill up quickly.
By capping the gravity fed cold water and feeding the mains water pressure in to the system a single impeller pump could be fitted to the hot water – meaning the owner now looks forward to a shower!
