Today, I’ve been changing lamps and fixing defibs. Nothing too interesting. BUT I forgot to post about the fault I come across the other day. So let me explain to the best of my ability 🙂 - a couple of weeks ago, we got a call out, around 10am. whole station and coffee shop next door has lost their power. Once investigated, we realised that the fault was external (underground away from the train station) so when this happens, we have to call UKPN out and remain on site until they either fix the fault OR bring a back up generator. They investigated, as you can see in picture 2, they placed some sort of zap master thing on the phases, which sends a voltage down it and hopefully brings the cables back to life, basically like a defibrillator but for cables😂!!) so cool.. I know 🥹 BUT, that didn’t work☹️ so they called for a back up generator. After the long 6 hour wait… it finally arrived!! So we all coned off the section and started wiring up out generator to enable us to restore the stations power before it gets dark!👩🦯 as you can see in picture 3, it was a lot of cable that I had to walk out then walk back in to give to the UKPN guys to wire up👨🏼🔧. They made a temporary board and wired up the 3 phase and neutral 😏 also, I hammered in a temp earthing rod into the ground and everyone took the mick out of my ‘toffee hammer’🔨 🤫 power was restored, we checked all lights were working. Big shout out to the coffee shop owner, he was the most kindest and thoughtful man. Let me use his toilet, gave me cutlery for my lunch and even gave all the workers a can of Coke each! Was helpful and patient! We need more people like him in the world🙂! I don’t know what caused the fault as I haven’t heard anymore since being at the job but that was a long day, left my house at 5am and didn’t get back until 7:45pm- AND IT WAS A FRIDAY! Rough 🤧 but worth it🥹👷🏼♀️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ •
