At Catterick Garrison today to replace three windows for a customer.
They have just built an extension which leaves the old back windows now inside.
Looking old and wanting a different style and colour to match their new aesthetic, they went for Irish oak .
Just have to wait for the plasterer to do his thing, and then we will return to seal them with brown silicone to match.

Replaced six double glazed units for a customer in Catterick Garrison today.
All had blown, with varying degrees of fog inside the units.

Replaced two double glazed units in Richmond and then one in Thoralby for customers today.
While at Thoralby we also replaced the two snapped pivot bars on a sash window for them. The window was no longer under tension due to this so was heavy to lift and would not stay open, it would also slip out of its running. All sorted now.

Around Catterick Garrison, Scotton and Catterick Village today.
An outside tap that was leaking, very poorly fit to start with. We replaced it for new.
It really needed totally redoing, but it went through the wall into the bathroom, where it was boxed in and tiled. The customer really didn't want that doing so we made the best of it.
Then a door that would not open, it was caught at the top. We got it open and saw that the top security hook had come away from the MPLS due to the screws falling out.
A shower that was leaking into the kitchen downstairs, it needed resealing to stop it.

Replaced a inlet valve on a toilet for a customer in Catterick Garrison today.
The toilet was running as the valve was not cutting out once the cistern was full and was spraying out onto the floor and wall.
We tried replacing the Gland but the issue did not fully resolve.
So we ended up replacing the whole valve to stop the problem.

Called to Catterick Village today by a customer who had what they believed to be a blocked kitchen sink/waste, which was backing up into their dish washer.
After having a good look at it we found the issue to be a shared drain outside.
An older, shared system with next door which took in the customers kitchen waste water and next doors gutter water.
Finding it blocked with debris, moss, stones and food waste 🤢.
Once cleared we checked by lifting the manhole further down the system and saw that water was flowing again freely.

Replaced four sets of friction stays for a customer in Catterick Garrison today. All four windows would not close or left a gap when closed. With the autumn/winter season around the corner it's a good time to have problem windows fixed.

Replaced a cold water ceramic cartridge on a kitchen tap for a customer in Richmond. The tap was continuously dripping quite badly and needed looking at, North Yorkshire is a hard water area and can cause problems with plumbing.

Replaced a back door for a customer in Richmond.
The house has just been bought to be rented out and the landlord wanted a plain, windowless, upvc door that needed little maintenance.

21/08/2026

Replaced an old aluminium patio door for new upvc French ones in Brompton on Swale.
The old doors were probably the original ones when the house was built, so around 25 years old.
Looking tired and not working too well, they were overdue a revamp.
