🎨‘Whistler's Touch’ 2025, acrylic on a 30 x 40 cm wooden artist palette

My submission for the Charity Auction 2025 .

The Charity Auction Exhibition supports the Artists’ General Benevolent Institution (AGBI) and the .

This year, members were tasked with creating works on wooden palettes, and my painting depicts the perspective of looking up at the working artist from beneath the palette.

🌟 Genesis of a Giant 🌟

Here’s my painted egg for the Elephant Family Egg Hunt Charity! 🐘💫

I wanted my design to truly reflect the cause, so I painted an Asian elephant bursting through a crack shaped like a map of Asia — all in a trompe l’oeil style to create a lifelike, striking effect.

Trompe l’oeil has been a huge part of my creative journey, from my career as a Scenic Artist in TV, film, and advertising to my current work as an independent artist. I love exploring this technique alongside other styles, and it occasionally finds its way into my murals and private commissions.

📍 24th March to 27th April, 2025: Follow the free-to-view trail across iconic locations and landmarks to discover 2ft egg sculptures, including mine! You can "collect" the eggs you find using a free app. At the end of the exhibition, the sculptures will be auctioned to support Asian wildlife conservation through .

🎨 We won a plate! At the Chelsea Awards, , , and I were awarded ‘Master of Craft’ for our murals over the years on the front of the . Huge thanks to the club for giving us the opportunity to showcase our scenic art skills and nominating us. A special thanks to Tony Common, who taught Annie and me our craft when we were among the first four women scenic artists employed at the BBC many years ago! 🖌️✨

I’m thrilled to have been commissioned to design and hand-paint the new front-of-house reception desk for the .

The brief was ‘Bloomsbury meets CAC’, drawing inspiration from the Bloomsbury Group artists and the hand-painted furniture at Charleston House. My design features unique elements of the club—Venus’s nook in the Garden, Friday night jazz in the billiard room, lively chats at the Big Table in the dining room, and the iconic bar, complete with a trompe l’oeil cat, Lily, catching a moth.

My mum Marie-Thérèse Ralli (née Deflandre) born May 7th 1916 would have been 106 years old today!

She studied life drawing, still-life, watercolour painting and History of Art under Henriette Bosche at the Atelier Henriette Bosche where she was awarded the Boshe Diploma.

She also took lessons in oil painting under artist Henri Logelain. This picture is of her at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts Bruxelles where she was awarded 1er prix, the highest grade of Diploma.

Over the years she was a prolific artist producing a considerable amount of beautiful works of art.

I miss her very much ❤️
