We’ve been bringing a new lease of life to Amhurst Road in Hackney with interactive and pollinator support features 🌿 🐝

Back in October 2025, we began building out the green corridor. This May, we have installed a range of urban greening add-ons and extras including:

🐞 Bug hotels and habi-stack features
🐝 Bee posts
🐦️ Bird boxes
🪨 Gabion benches
🪧 Educational signage
🌸 Pollinator-friendly planting

These features take Amhurst Road from a newly-emerging green space to an interactive destination, shaping vision of turning the street into an immersive linear park.

This week was National Children’s Gardening Week! Celebrating the joys and benefits of getting our kids stuck into the soil and growing green spaces.🌱

As we’re coming to the end of the half term holiday, our team have been busy installing SuDs and planting spaces in multiple schools across London.

Alongside installing SuDS features into schools, we also run nature workshops to get the kids involved with their green spaces and learn some valuable planting skills, take a look at some of the photos! 🌿

With the climate changing and spaces becoming increasingly urban, its important that we get the next generation in the soil and planting 🌿

Is this our best living wall yet?

If you went to Chelsea Flower show this year, you might’ve seen our living walls around the gardens, on the main stage and on the DJ booth.
Our team worked hard to create our most beautiful RHS living wall yet, complete with vibrant flowers and a diversity of textures.🌸

Working weekends and extended hours, we want to say a huge well done to our installation team and additional staff! The wall looked the best it ever has and we’re so proud to have been back at the show for another year running. 🌿

📸 Take a look at some of the photos taken by our team from construction through to a main stage performance.

How can we make walking safer and more accessible around schools?

It’s National Walking Month and we’re celebrating the success of one of our most impactful school street projects, Kennington Oval Reimagined. It featured:

🟠 1 fully closed school street
🟣 166 colourful steel planters
🔵 33 bench components
🟡 17 new trees and over 2000 shrubs and grasses
🔴 Vibrant and interactive floor art murals

The project has since been made permanent and acts as a testament to how we can make better use of our spaces to get people moving again!

Almost two years on since the scheme went in, here are some of the stats:

🔹 A 34% reduction in vehicle traffic
🔹 Cycling levels increased to 41%
🔹 1 permanent full - closure school street
🔹 Significant biodiversity boost

Projects like this are creating safer and healthier spaces for children to choose active travel on their journey to and from school 🌿

How can parklets boost active travel in urban spaces? 🚶‍♂️

May is National Walking Month so we’re exploring the part parklets play in encouraging the public to walk, wheel and cycle instead of driving!🌿

Parklets can offer inviting places to stop, rest and spend time. Additional seating and greenery can help create more welcoming, people-friendly streets, making journeys more comfortable and accessible.

Additional bike parking and sharing facilities, support multi-modal travel and make it easier to choose active transport for shorter everyday journeys in busy areas 🚲️

Take a closer look at our parklets, how many people-friendly features can you spot? 🌿

What can you use to create connected green corridors in your residential space? 🌿

In Waltham Forest, where Scotts Road and Morley Road meet, we created an accessible rain garden fit with seating and pathways to join the two roads which were previously separated by hard surfacing.

Designed with accessibility and connection in mind, the timber pathways run through the rain garden to connect the two streets, while gabion seating benches provide informal places to stop, rest and spend time.

The rain garden creates:

🔸 More green space
🔸 Better surface water management
🔸 Interconnected neighbourhoods
🔸 Improved biodiversity
🔸 A calmer, more pedestrian-friendly streetscape

What was previously just unused hard surfacing is now a green corridor that connects people, streets and movement through the neighbourhood.

The UK has lost around 70% of its flower-rich meadows since the 1930s 🌼

It’s No Mow May and putting the lawnmower down can bring biodiversity back into our everyday green spaces!

Wildflower turf is a simple way to make an immediate impact helping to:

🟡 Support pollinators like bees and butterflies
🟡 Increase biodiversity in urban environments
🟡 Bring seasonal colour and texture
🟡 Improve climate resilience

Our Cool Oak Lane planters nearly 2 years on🪻

In October 2024, we installed and planted these large corten steel planters in to introduce more greenery and brighten up the streets as part of the council’s wider plan to create a more pleasant, people-friendly space.

The planting scheme was designed for colour, texture and vibrance, featuring:
🔵 H**e blue gem
🟣 Liriope muscari Royal purple
🔴 Salvia Royal Bumble
🟣 Erysimum Bowles’s mauve

In April, we went back to check up on the planters and see how they’re doing.
Take a look at the growth!🌱

This is what nearly 10 years of living wall maintenance looks like🌿

This living wall was installed on Astell Street almost a decade ago, and our maintenance team have been caring for it as part of its ongoing upkeep.

Over this time, we have done some plant swaps for seasonal colour and texture, completed regular irrigation checks and carried out targeted replanting to keep the wall healthy, balanced and looking its best.

Regular maintenance visits are what keep spaces like this thriving long-term by supporting plant health and appearance year after year. 🌸
