The quiet beauty of late winter slowly giving way to spring 🌱

After months of cold soil and bare branches, the garden begins to stir again. Tiny shoots push through the earth, delicate flowers start to open, and colour slowly returns to the landscape.

There’s something incredibly uplifting about this time of year. The first signs of life always feel like a gentle reminder that nature is ready to begin again.

From the smallest crocus to the first blossom on the trees, it’s the start of a whole new season in the garden. Spring is on its way.

This is personally one of my favourite gardens I’ve planted in my career. A truly beautiful design and what I’d call an “instant” garden ✨

Every plant, shrub and tree you see here was brought into the garden, which made it quite a task to execute. What makes it even more special is that this garden is not even three years old and continues to blossom and evolve every season 🌸

Coming back to this garden after fifteen months was a real moment. The planting has settled in, everything has filled out, and the space now feels calm, relaxed and easy to be in. The fire naturally draws you in and gives the garden warmth, while the sound and movement of the water slow everything down. It’s the kind of space you just want to spend time in.

Designed by the brilliant Daniel Shea who has an incredible way of shaping spaces and bringing gardens to life. I genuinely love working on his projects and seeing his designs come to life.

Planted and irrigation installed by Zen Gardens Limited. This was a project I was sad to finish, but such a pleasure to return to and see how well it’s grown. Excited to see how it continues to mature over the years.

A garden that’s meant to be enjoyed as much as it’s maintained.

Some gardens are maintained. Others are truly cared for.

These lawns are cut by hand to keep the stripes sharp, no ride on mower here. It’s slower, it’s a serious workout, but the finish speaks for itself.

This garden changes beautifully with the seasons. From crisp winter mornings to long summer evenings and those moments of light that stop you before packing up, it’s a privilege to look after a space like this and watch it evolve throughout the year.

We’re currently putting together a new pond design to gently elevate this area even further and look forward to sharing it once it’s finished.

This was such a special project to be part of 🌿

I was lucky enough to plant this garden in the depths of winter, then return weeks later to see it waking up in early spring and again as it settled into early summer. Being able to capture the transition through the seasons has been really rewarding, especially watching the Amelanchiers and surrounding planting evolve and soften the space over time.

The garden was beautifully designed by and expertly landscaped by one of his fantastic landscaping teams, with our team at Zen Gardens carrying out the planting.

Projects like this are a reminder of why I love what we do. Watching a space grow, change, and mature is always so rewarding 🌱
