O W A are registered London-based architects working on bespoke residential and cultural projects. With experience developing award-winning buildings, medal winning gardens and a growing portfolio of published projects, we develop site-specific solutions in challenging conservation areas, greenfield sites and dense urban contexts. As well as refurbishments and alterations to existing buildings, we are experienced in developing extensions, new-build developments and works to listed buildings. With a decade of experience in design-led projects, OWA work from inception to completion on exceptional homes for clients in London and the South East. O W A are shortlisted for the Architects' Journal Small Projects Award in 2017 for our collaboration with Kieran Wardle & Matthew Butcher on the Mansio, a temporary arts centre for Hexham Book Festival.

A great day for some garden gazing…

We designed this frameless corner window to the rear of a Victorian outrigger, to soften the relationship between the return extension and the original building.

The view out has been constructed to give a diagonal view up through the new tiered garden, creating a sense of space and depth to this Hackney site.

FOLD HOUSE is a little alteration to a Victorian terraced house in Kentish Town. Leaning into the garden, I think it sits more like a potting shed than a contemporary extension, with the clay-coloured zinc roof and the oak of the doors and windows softening the corner of the house. I think it brings a character to the site that is as much a part of the garden as it is a part of the house.
