Buildings move. Your project shouldn’t move without you knowing. 📐🏗️

Before a crack becomes a claim, or movement becomes a costly surprise, structural movement monitoring gives project teams the data to act early.

From excavation and demolition to new-build construction and adjacent structures, precise monitoring helps you understand what’s moving, how much, and when.

Because on a complex project, “we think it’s fine” isn’t a measurement.

Monitor. Measure. Understand. Protect.

Whether you’re a Project Manager, Developer, Engineer or Contractor, make structural movement visible before it becomes a problem.

Out on site carrying out structural movement monitoring, using precise survey equipment to measure and track movement over time.

For a construction project, small movements can be important. That’s why establishing accurate baseline measurements and continuing to monitor throughout the works gives the project team something much more useful than a visual inspection alone: measurable data.

For quantity surveyors, contractors, developers and construction managers, this can help provide a clearer picture when dealing with:

• Existing cracks or suspected movement

• Excavation and adjacent structures

• Building settlement

• Façade movement

• Major refurbishment or structural works

• Neighbouring properties affected by construction

The important part is consistency, taking accurate measurements, monitoring them over time, and reporting the changes clearly so the right people can make informed decisions.

Good surveying isn’t just about taking measurements. It’s about giving the project team confidence in what those measurements mean.

If you have a project where structural movement needs to be monitored, feel free to get in touch.

Another busy day for our engineers on site in Central London 🏗️📐

Today was all about getting the details right. We set out 6 baseplate columns and 1 datum, providing the key reference points for the works, while also surveying the as-built columns to make sure they were built at the correct position and level.

It’s the kind of work that often happens behind the scenes, but getting these measurements right is essential to keeping everything on site accurate and on track.

Precision in the field. Confidence in the build. 👷🏽‍♂️📏

Foundation setting out is the process of transferring the dimensions and positions shown on the construction drawings onto the ground. Using surveying equipment, established benchmarks and control points, we accurately mark:

Building lines and gridlines.
Foundation positions.
Footing widths and offset.
Levels and formation depths.
Excavation lines and reference points.
Etc.

Accurate measurements, proper control points and constant checking are essential for every project.
