Progress Update | St Helens Bus Interchange ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ—๏ธ
Itโ€™s always nice to receive good news from your site crew while youโ€™re away on holiday - the installation of the last canopy glass panel. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Over the last few weeks, our team has made significant progress with the cladding package, while also completing the glazing works on both canopies and the clerestory glazing.

The final 28 glass panels were particularly special. These are state-of-the-art PV solar glass panels, manufactured at the only factory in Europe currently capable of producing them in the size required for this project.
We are now approaching the final stages of the external cladding works and remain on programme. Once completed, we will move inside the canopies to install the acoustic soffit panels and take care of the remaining works needed to get this project over the line.

A big thank you to Dynamic Access and AMCH for their professional approach, support and flexibility throughout these challenging works. Kudos also go to our Site Supervisor, Orhan Keleshev, who has proven once more that no challenge is too big to overcome. Projects like this prove that it takes the right specialist contractor team and site crew at hand to make magic happen.

For us, this milestone marks the successful completion of the most challenging glazing project we have undertaken for Novum Structures so far. A project where thinking outside the box, adapting to the site conditions and using innovative installation techniques have all come together to meet the expectations of everyone involved.

We look forward to sharing more good news as we approach completion.

And yesโ€ฆ receiving the picture of the last glass panel going in while being on holiday was probably one of the best work updates I could have asked for! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Beyond the โ€œMan and a Vanโ€ โ€” Is There a Better Way to Resource Facade Projects?
A facade contractor can have the right materials, drawings and programme in place. But when projects are running simultaneously across different parts of the UK, one question becomes increasingly important:
How do you keep the right people available, while maintaining the same standard of workmanship across every project?

๐Ÿ“ A project accelerates unexpectedly.
๐Ÿ“ Another one is delayed.
๐Ÿ“ A new project starts hundreds of miles away.
๐Ÿ“ Holiday periods reduce the available workforce.
๐Ÿ“ A technically demanding package requires additional experienced installers.
These situations are part of everyday construction.
The challenge is not simply finding people.
It is building a workforce model that can adapt to changing project demands without compromising quality, safety or programme delivery.

This is where the difference between a traditional project-by-project approach and a decentralised specialist installation model becomes particularly interesting.
A decentralised workforce doesn't mean decentralised standards.
The real value comes from combining mobile specialist teams with centralised management, consistent QA, supervision, training, H&S procedures and operational control.

In our latest blog, we explore:
๐Ÿ”น How specialist teams can support projects across different regions
๐Ÿ”น Maintaining consistent installation standards across multiple sites
๐Ÿ”น Managing resources when programmes change
๐Ÿ”น Supporting projects where skilled local labour is limited
๐Ÿ”น Maintaining continuity during peak periods and holidays
๐Ÿ”น The importance of centralised management behind a distributed workforce
๐Ÿ”น Why flexibility can become a genuine project-delivery advantage

At ON FACADES, our approach has always been to build a workforce capable of adapting to the project's demands, rather than allowing geographical boundaries to dictate where we can deliver.
Because ultimately, successful facade installation isn't only about having enough people.
It's about having the right capability, management and flexibility behind those people.

Over the last 2 weeks, we swapped the hand suckers and glazing paddles with clamps and long straight edges to progress with our next set of works: the installation of the cladding package that comprises Copings, Fascias and Soffits aluminium panels.

Of course, all cladding system is sloped, curved and 10m above ground level, and the sunlight makes the use of lasers just.... redundant - what would one expect on a canopy meant to suit the docking of double decking busses:)

We just put our big boy pants on, and... here I share the result with you in a few pics where the "connoisseurs" can acknowledge our hard work and level of craftsmanship.

As always, a special thank you goes to our trusted client Novum Structures UK, for putting their confidence in us and giving us the opportunity to be part of this amazing project. Your support, coordination and willingness to work with us through the practical challenges on site have been instrumental in helping our team deliver the works to the standard we aim for.

We look forward to continuing the journey together as we bring the project closer to the finish line.
