Kicking off 2026 the right way.

As we returned after the holiday break, our teams across all sites came together for ‘Soft Start’ briefing sessions. It was a chance to reset, reconnect and refocus, with a refresh on key safety practices, important site updates and clear alignment on priorities for the month ahead.

More than just briefings, these sessions created great opportunities to reconnect, reflect on lessons learned and strengthen our shared commitment to safety, quality and collaboration as we move into the new year.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make these sessions such a success. Here’s to a strong and safe start to 2026.

As Fado reflect on 2025, we are reminded that construction is about more than steel and concrete - it’s about the communities we serve.

Each year, we select a few of the significant projects we were fortunate to be involved in and align our holiday donations to support charities local to those specific sites.

It is our way of saying thank you to the clients and neighbourhoods that welcome us and ensuring our impact lasts long after the project is handed over.

This year, we are proud to support:

CASPA: CASPA aims to build a society in which autistic individuals feel understood and empowered to be their full self and live their best life. Often autistic people are seen as “different” and don’t fit into mainstream activities, leaving them and their families feeling isolated and hopeless. But it doesn’t have to be this way.... The Maypole Project: The Maypole Project offers psychological and social support to children with complex medical needs and their families. Based in Orpington, our counselling and sensory centre serves the London Borough of Bromley, with remote support available throughout SE London and the UK. To find out more: themaypoleproject.co.uk

Recently, our Highgate Community Volunteer Morning saw Amber Bell and Eddie Burton join the Highgate Society to refresh eight community planters across the local area.

The Highgate Society is a volunteer-led organisation that works to protect Highgate’s green spaces and strengthen its community spirit. Its mission is to make Highgate a better place to live, work and visit by encouraging good planning, reliable transport and a vibrant local life.

As part of our ongoing support for the community, Fado has also contributed a £500 donation to the Highgate Society, helping to further their efforts in maintaining and enhancing the local environment.

During the volunteer morning, Amber and Eddie cleared rubbish, removed old plants and soil, added fresh soil, bark, bulbs and greenery, and finished with a final tidy-up that left the planters looking bright and ready to thrive.

A huge thank you to Amber and Eddie for giving their time, and to the Highgate Society for the great work they do to keep the neighbourhood refreshed, welcoming and well cared for.

What a fantastic day we had at the London Stansted Airport Meet the Buyers event last week!

It was a great opportunity for our team to connect with new suppliers and strengthen existing relationships. At Fado, we’re committed to building the best and most reliable supply chain to support our aviation clients, and events like this play an important part in helping us deliver on that promise.

After the event, we were delighted to unwind with our clients and suppliers over drinks and nibbles. It was brilliant to catch up in a more relaxed setting after a busy day. A special highlight of the evening was the vocal talent of our very own Design Manager, Dave Shaw, who kept everyone entertained!

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the day and evening. We’re excited for the opportunities ahead!

Our People Spotlight series is back, and today we’re shining a light on Neil Adams, Projects Director at Stansted.

Neil brings extensive senior operational experience to Fado, with a career that started by chance and a helpful nudge from his father-in-law’s architecture practice. He began as a trainee Quantity Surveyor in 1990 and went on to build an impressive career across Willmott Dixon, Barratt Homes, and Mount Anvil and then back to Willmott Dixon for over 21 years before joining Fado at Stansted with what he proudly calls a fantastic team.

Based at Stansted’s Enterprise House, Neil’s days are fast paced and always varied. His current focus includes Arrivals Toilets, progressing CVP into contract, and completing the Tex Car Park AS4 building.

- A standout career moment
Leading the £27m refurbishment and new auditorium for the London Screen Academy, a project that opened in 2019 and earned him a nomination for CIOB Construction Manager of the Year. A huge achievement that still means a lot to him.

- On industry change
Technology has been the biggest shift, from waiting for drawings in the post early in his career to the instant access we rely on today.

- When he’s off the clock
You’ll often find Neil cycling through the Bedfordshire lanes with a stop for a bacon roll or slice of cake. Once a year he heads to the slopes with friends, most recently skiing in La Plagne and even taking on the Olympic bobsleigh track.

= Best career advice
“Measure twice, cut once.”

- One food forever
Curry, without question.

We’re delighted to share that Fado has been appointed by London Borough of Bromley as the main contractor for the Bromley Central Library Relocation project.

The existing Central Library – the largest in Bromley – will be relocated to a vacant two-storey retail unit (formerly Topshop) on Bromley High Street.

Our works will include a facade modernisation, full fit-out, the installation of new MEP services throughout the unit, roof repair and PV installation, the delivery of high-quality finishes and fixed furnishings, as well as the formation of new structural openings to create a spectacular open and inviting space for the public to learn and thrive in.

The new site will rehouse current library services while enabling exciting improvements, including:

- Externally provide an impactful approach to transforming the external appearance of the building
- A larger children’s library
- Modern, welcoming study areas designed for visitors to enjoy
- Revitalised museum display
- New local history centre and archive reading room

This win marks another exciting chapter for Fado as we continue to grow our portfolio. A huge congratulations to everyone involved for their hard work in securing this scheme!

Stay tuned for more updates as this project comes to life.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and spoke with our team at the London City Airport, East London Business Summit Ft Meet the Buyers event at ExCeL London yesterday. It was a fantastic day full of conversations, new connections, and opportunities to explore future partnerships.

The Fado team had an incredible time attending the annual MAG-Fest Charity Ball last week!

Held beneath the iconic Concorde G-BOAC at the Concorde Conference Centre in Manchester, it was a fantastic evening celebrating generosity, community, and connection.

As a key client of Fado, we were delighted to join MAG (Airports Group) and so many others in supporting the wonderful causes benefiting from this year’s event: Medcare, Magic Breakfast UK, The Children’s Society, and Blessings in a Backpack.

A huge thank you to the organisers for hosting such a memorable night — all in the name of making a difference!

If you’ve seen our Principal Director, Gavin Newburn, moving a little slower than usual lately, it’s for a good reason! He has just completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon, running 13.1 scenic miles through Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park, and Kensington Gardens.

Gavin took on this challenge to support Prostate Cancer UK, raising over £1,000 to help fund vital research, support, and awareness for those affected by prostate cancer. His efforts contributed to an incredible £124,160 raised through the event overall.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with around 1 in 8 men diagnosed in their lifetime. Prostate Cancer UK works tirelessly to save and improve lives through groundbreaking research and support — and every pound raised brings us closer to better treatments and earlier diagnoses.

A huge well done to Gavin for going the distance for such an important cause, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and showed their support.
