We were recently called to a home in Ealing W13, where the new homeowners wanted to get their boiler serviced.

Our initial flue gas analyser readings showed something wasn’t right. After further investigation, we found the heat exchanger was badly blocked, with a significant build-up inside.

Unfortunately, with no recent service history, the deterioration had already gone too far. The homeowners decided to have the boiler replaced with a new model with a 10-year manufacturer warranty, and they’ve also joined our annual care plan.

A boiler can appear to be working while problems are developing inside. That’s why an annual service isn’t just about giving the boiler a clean — it gives us the opportunity to check combustion and spot deterioration before it becomes a much bigger problem.

Get your boiler ready for winter

This Worcester 4000 in Ealing had its annual service today, getting it ready for the colder months ahead.

As part of the service, the heating system filter was removed and cleaned. You can see from the photos just how much debris can collect inside.

A dirty filter can restrict circulation through the heating system and make the boiler work harder than it needs to. Keeping it clean helps maintain good circulation, protects the boiler and supports efficient operation.

Regular servicing is also a good opportunity to pick up potential issues before the heating is working hard through winter.

Vaillant F75 fault – Ealing W5

Called out to a boiler breakdown in Ealing W5 after this Vaillant boiler stopped working and displayed an F75 fault.

After carrying out some checks, I traced the problem to a blocked pressure sensor. The sensor wasn’t correctly detecting the pressure change when the pump started, which was causing the boiler to lock out.

The pressure sensor was replaced, the boiler was then fully tested and everything is now back up and running as it should be.

Another repair completed without replacing parts unnecessarily — proper fault finding first, repair second.
