: How long is an electrical safety certificate valid for?
-5 years
The regulations specify that an electrical safety certificate will be valid for 5 years, or a shorter time frame if the inspector deems it necessary. This means that generally you should only need to get one certificate every five years and this certificate can be supplied to any new tenants during that period.📃✔️

Price of running appliances will double

-From October the average annual household energy bill is expected to surge by 81pc due to Russia’s war on Ukraine and huge demand for a limited of gas.
-it is thought the cost of using gas to heat a four-bedroom house to a room temperature of between 20.5c and 21.5c will soon rise to £3,105 a year under the October price cap. This is compared to the current cost of around £1,716.
-for example, looking at the running costs for 11 household appliances will spend around £232 more on cooking and cleaning appliances in the three months from October, if the prices continue to rise the same appliances may cost £613 to run in the first three months this is twice what they cost now.

This winter’s expectations price cap:
-To run a tumble dryer, it will cost up to £1.15
-To run a washing machine, it will cost up to £1.53
-To run a dishwasher, it will cost up to 77p.
For example, a family of four who use their dishwasher once a day can expect to spend £31.74 more than they do now. Should that same family each shower for five minutes twice a day their bill will increase by £147.20 from October.

-Gas oven costs about 62p to heat for an hour come October that will have almost doubled to £1.12.
-Kettle costs around 4p to boil, assuming you boil the kettle 3 times a day it will cost you £17.66 under the first three months of the new price cap.
-Price cap is due to be revised again before January, this will be revised every 3 months instead of 6.
-Currently the unit rate for electricity, which dictates how much money you spending using appliances is capped at 29p perkWh, while for gas it is 7p.
-When the April price cap was announced the average annual estimated house hold bill rose by 54pc- to £1,971. In January when the cap goes up again the average annual estimated to rise to £4,266 an increase of 117pc from April.

: Does all redundant wiring have to be removed?🔌
When an electrical installation is rewired, it is good practice to remove redundant wiring. If this is not possible, any redundant wiring must be permanently disconnected from any electrical supply so that it doesn’t present a risk.

: Can I use my electronics abroad? 🌴🔌
Before leaving for your holiday, find out about the type of sockets and the voltage used in the country you are visiting. If you need travel adaptors or voltage converters to use your electronics, find what their power ratings should be and consider buying them before you go as not all products available abroad will meet British safety standards.

02/08/2022

: Double check your travel adaptor is correct for the country you going to. Do not try and jam it in to the socket if it does not fit with ease. 🔌
