🔌🏠 Latest Project Complete – South Ockendon 🏠🔌
Take a look at our latest project at the former South Ockendon Police Station, where two old police houses have been transformed into 2 x 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom HMOs, finished to a high-end luxury standard throughout.
This install includes key life-safety systems, such as (but not limited to):
✔️ Mains-wired, interlinked smoke alarms
✔️ Emergency lighting throughout communal corridors
✔️ Mechanical ventilation systems
✔️ Spotlights throughout
✔️ Internet points in every room
✔️ Sky TV
Huge shoutout to Steve and Jamie for the tidy containment in the plant rooms – quality workmanship 👌
Top work all round to everyone involved on this one.
⚠️ HMOs present unique challenges when installing electrical systems, particularly around fire protection and fault detection.
✔️ AFDDs are required under BS 7671:2018+A2 – Regulation 421.1.7, which applies to circuits supplying socket outlets and fixed equipment in higher-risk residential buildings, including HMOs, to reduce the risk of fire caused by arc faults.
✔️ Fire detection and alarm systems in HMOs must comply with BS 5839-6, typically requiring a Grade A or Grade D1 LD2/LD3 system depending on the HMO size and local authority requirements.
Designing and installing to these standards is critical for safety and compliance 🔥✅
