Title: Locker theft on opening day — £10k Rolex + cards stolen;
On opening day at Colliers Wood David Lloyd I stored a Rolex watch and my credit cards in a locker that the club provided and secured with the club’s own lock. When I returned the watch and cards were gone. I reported the theft, visited the club in person twice to request updates and waited for a follow-up that never came. No one at the club reached out to keep me informed, apologise, or explain what steps until I went into the club for an update! The apparent lack of urgency or responsibility from staff suggests the club is more interested in staying silent than resolving serious incidents affecting members.
This is not an isolated problem, there are multiple reports of watches, phones and cards stolen from lockers at David Lloyd locations, sometimes involving high-value items and police appeals. Given the frequency of these reports, the inadequacy of the club’s response in my case is especially disappointing. I am publishing this review to warn other members and to push David Lloyd to improve security, CCTV access, and member communication when thefts occur.
Evidence of similar incidents:
Multiple local news reports, police appeals and member posts document watch and card thefts from lockers at David Lloyd clubs, showing this has occurred at other locations: police appeals following watch thefts reported at David Lloyd, Bushey.
A high-value Rolex theft from a David Lloyd locker (Maidstone) and subsequent dispute with the club was covered by local media.
Local reporting has recorded other watch thefts from David Lloyd lockers (Farnham).
Members have reported similar locker thefts on community forums and Reddit threads.
A Freedom of Information release and regional police reporting show recorded incidents at David Lloyd sites involving jewellery/watches and cards, indicating these are not isolated single-club problems.
