Introducing the first project of my MArch course … New Beginnings 🌟

The pressing issue of homelessness demands innovative and compassionate solutions. In response, I have designed a day centre called New Beginnings, aimed at transforming the way we address and support our homeless community. The homeless population often faces significant barriers when seeking assistance, including feelings of isolation, lack of resources, and reluctance to approach impersonal institutions. There is a critical need for a welcoming environment that not only provides essential services but also fosters a sense of community and resilience.

New Beginnings is conceived as an approachable and vibrant space that invites individuals to utilise its facilities and engage with others in a supportive setting. The architecture embodies warmth and openness, featuring inviting entrances, plenty of natural light, and comfortable, user-friendly spaces. The centre includes warm showers, washrooms, pet washrooms, and a laundry facility to ensure personal hygiene and dignity. There are secure lockers for personal belongings and a technology room for accessing online resources and staying connected. Community spaces include a quiet area for relaxation or private conversations with dedicated counsellors, alongside a café offering warm drinks and meals to all in need.

Understanding the bond between people and their pets, New Beginnings welcomes homeless pets, providing facilities to ensure their care and comfort.

By creating a day centre that is both functional and inviting, I aim to encourage the homeless community to take advantage of the resources available, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. New Beginnings is more than just a shelter; it is a place of hope, connection, and new opportunities. ✏️🌟

For those who are new here, I’m Lilli, an aspiring Architect with a passion for creating inspiring and transformative spaces. Having just completed the first semester of my Master’s, I am thrilled to share the next steps of my journey, hopefully inspiring the next generation of Architects, from the Architectural Assistant Part I Apprenticeship, to the transformative path of the Architect Apprenticeship Parts II & III 🏛️👋

Starting with the degree apprenticeship at BA, I learned how to lay the groundwork on what it is to be a designer, not just a step towards understanding architecture, but breathing life into it. These four years allowed me to blend my creativity with technicalities, the cornerstone of my initial growth in architecture 🎓

Now’ stepping into Parts II & III of the Architect Apprenticeship, I am ready to embark on a deeper exploration of architecture as a whole. This phase moves into pushing boundaries even more, embracing the challenges and turning visionary ideas into tangible realities. It will be a journey of continuous learning, resilience and even more of my passion for creating spaces that aim to inspire and transform lives 🌟

Please enjoy my portfolio page, swiping through the highlights of university projects and the occasional project from within the workplace 📖

Join me as I continue to share my adventures within studying architecture, building a generation of young architects, all with the passion to build a future where imagination meets precision and dreams become architectural wonders ✏️✨

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully completed my BA (Hons) Architectural Assistant apprenticeship with a First Class Honours! 🎓✨
This four year journey has been incredibly rewarding, filled with learning, growth, and invaluable experiences. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained from the university course at LSBU, as well as my peers and mentors who have guided me throughout, have not only prepared me for the next steps but have also solidified my commitment to creating innovative and sustainable architectural solutions.

As I close this chapter, I am excited to embark on my next adventure: the MArch Architect Apprenticeship at LSBU. This next step will allow me to achieve my Parts II and III in architecture, bringing me closer to my goal of becoming a Chartered Architect. 🏛️📐

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way – tutors, mentors, friends, and family. Your encouragement and guidance have been instrumental in my success.
With special mention to for always supporting me in the journey, without Jack I would never have been able to complete my apprenticeship, I couldn’t be more gratetul.

I’m incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of my family - .bartella and - for their endless patience, love, and motivation. And to my top fan, your constant encouragement and confidence in my abilities have been invaluable, and of course ensuring my models never crumble! Your belief in me has been my driving force. I couldn’t have done it without each of you 🙏✨

Here’s to new beginnings and continued growth in the world of architecture! ✏️🤩

Design 302 final perspective section…

The biggest drawing I have ever worked on! When my tutor said, make sure this prints at double A0… I think you can all imagine my face! But I did it, an almighty poster showing all the aspects of my design proposal in one drawing. Expressing technical detailing, a sense of place as well as making sure the theme is really obvious. A drawing I will always be proud of. 🪴
