🚪 How to Straighten a Warped Door — Tips From BlueWood Handyman

Is your door dragging, sticking, or refusing to close properly? Don’t replace it yet — most warped doors can be fixed! Warping usually happens because of moisture or temperature changes, but with the right steps, you can often bring your door back into shape.

Here’s what we recommend:

🔧 1. Check the door first
Look for uneven gaps or bowing. If it’s dragging or sticking, it’s likely warped.

💨 2. Dry it out
Moisture is the main culprit. Place the door in a dry area, outdoors in the sun, or use a dehumidifier to help it return to shape.

📦 3. Apply pressure
Lay the door flat and add weight to the warped area for 24–48 hours—great for minor bends.

🪵 4. Sand high spots
If it still sticks, lightly sand the areas rubbing against the frame. Go slow so you don’t remove too much.

🔩 5. Adjust the hinges
Loose or misaligned hinges can make the warping worse. Tighten them or reposition if needed.

🚪 6. Replace only if necessary
