One of the biggest misconceptions around solar is that panels need bright sunshine to generate electricity. They don’t… they work using daylight, which means they’ll continue generating even on those very familiar grey UK days.

Of course, output varies throughout the year, with longer summer days generally producing more. But your system is designed with year-round generation in mind, not just a few sunny months.

Let’s break it down… ☀️⚡️

There are plenty of myths surrounding solar panels, but how much truth is actually behind them?

❌ “Solar panels don’t work in cloudy or cold weather.”
They do. Solar panels generate energy from daylight, not heat, so they can still produce electricity on cloudy days and throughout the colder months.

❌ “They’re too expensive for most homeowners.”
Solar is an upfront investment, but with reduced energy bills and less reliance on the grid, it can provide significant savings over the system’s lifetime.

❌ “They can’t power your home at night.”
The panels themselves need daylight, but pair your system with battery storage and excess energy generated during the day can be stored for use later.

❌ “Solar panels will damage your roof.”
When properly assessed and professionally installed, solar panels shouldn’t damage your roof. The mounting system is specifically designed to keep everything secure and weatherproof.

❌ “They require constant maintenance.”
Solar panels are relatively low maintenance. An occasional clean and routine checks are generally all that’s needed to keep your system performing as it should.
