On Friday I finished my part in this amazing build.
It's been a long slog, having been on it for about 16 months, the majority of the time on my own.
Lots of discussions with Lindsay, the architect and owner of the building throughout this time to find the best way to put his designs into practice.
Just about all the interior is made from ash wood that Lindsay had milled from his land a couple of years ago. It has gone from being rough sawn planks to a bespoke made interior that i would describe as having been making a bit of furniture for people to live inside.
I've got a week off now with Gem and our Stevie dog on staycation being tourists in our own backyard 😎

Made this nice little bit of running gear today for a bifold door. I'm sure it's been done before but I invented and designed this one in my head. I used a spare router cutter bearing screwed into the top of the door and then Chanelled out a piece of wood for it to run in. Works great. Not the best video 😊

Bit of a photo drop of the woodwork I've been up to in the last few weeks. The light fitting piece on the ceiling is one of the most stressful things I've ever fitted. Very hard on my own to get it measured and cut bang on when it's 5.5 metres long with a joint in the middle, not straight forward at all. One chance! Incredible amount of headwork in putting Lindsay's designs into production. It's challenging me to come up with ways of doing things that are new to me. 😊

Facing a constant battle with using this lovely ash that has been barn stored and bringing it into a heated environment. Shrinking, bowing and cupping. Working with it is the biggest challenge, and then kinda letting it do its thing is adding to the character and charm of the natural environment of the treehouse. It's a strain on my brain though, being a perfectionist 😊 mirrored sliding door to the shower room and toilet. Design credentials go to Charlotte, Lindsay and Jackie. Myself for making it functional.

There's some ash boards going on the wall. The clients had this timber all milled on their own land from their woods. It's nice to be doing some finish carpentry on the inside now 😊 made a nice little flattening sledge too for the bigger slabs 👍🏻
