🌮 Bringing Taco Bell’s colours to life in Dumfries!

We recently completed external painting works to selected areas of the new Taco Bell, achieving a finish in keeping with its distinctive corporate branding. 💜

There was plenty of work behind the scenes to get that purple just right. With no standard paint code to work from, careful colour matching and sampling were key to achieving the exact shade the client required.

At Harkness Painting & Decorating, that attention to detail is part of our service. From the first colour sample to the finished paintwork, we take pride in getting it right.

A great project to be involved in, and a finish our team can be proud of!

🏆 Proud to Achieve CHAS Elite Accreditation!

We’re delighted to announce that Harkness Painting & Decorating Ltd has officially achieved CHAS Elite accreditation!

This is a significant milestone for our business and one we’re incredibly proud of.

The accreditation process was certainly no walk in the park! It involved a rigorous assessment of our policies, procedures and working practices across a wide range of areas, including health & safety, quality management, environmental responsibility and business compliance.

Achieving CHAS Elite, the highest level of CHAS accreditation, demonstrates our commitment to maintaining high standards in everything we do.

As we continue to grow as a business, it’s important to us that we’re not just growing in size, but also strengthening the systems, standards and professionalism behind the work we deliver.

A huge amount of time and effort has gone into achieving this, making it all the more rewarding to finally get over the line.

A proud moment for the company and another positive step forward! 👏

The art of making steel look like timber.

These structural beams began as plain white steel. They have then been transformed with a hand-painted wood effect, creating the warmth and character of timber while retaining the existing steel structure.

A convincing finish depends on much more than choosing the right colour. The direction and variation of the grain need to follow the shape of each beam, while knots, darker markings and subtle changes in tone give the surface its natural appearance. The detail has to work across long lengths and through every junction, even when viewed up close.

The photos show the work taking shape, from the original white beams through to the finished wood effect. It’s a great example of the specialist decorative skills within our team at Harkness Painting & Decorating Ltd.

From Aspiring Footballer to Skilled Tradesman 👏

We’re incredibly proud to congratulate Ross Carey on passing his skills test and officially becoming a tradesman.

There’s a story behind these two photos that makes this milestone particularly special for us.

One of the very first donations we made as a company was supplying Newington Primary School with sponsored football kits. Ross was one of the first youngsters to pull on one of those kits.

Fast forward 11 years and that young man has completed primary school, secondary school and now a four-year apprenticeship with Harkness Painting & Decorating.

Ross is a credit to himself and to our company. He’s hardworking, popular with his colleagues and customers, and always keen to learn, progress and improve. His ability and skills are beyond his years, and he has a very bright future ahead of him.

We’re delighted to have played a small part in Ross’s journey — from wearing a Harkness-sponsored football kit as a youngster to becoming a fully qualified tradesman with us today.

Congratulations, Ross. Thoroughly deserved.

We look forward to your continued progress.

Great to see Mids 2011’s recently be crowned league champions for the 25/26 season.

It’s been an honour to provide this talented young side with some sponsorship and we are looking forward to see how they progress next season.

A special thanks to Albert and the other coaches who have made us feel extremely included as sponsors this season, they are excellent ambassadors for the club.

An extra mention should go to them and all other volunteer coaches in grassroots football for keeping these teams going.

Well done to everyone involved 🏆

Hala initially joined us in a part-time bookkeeping role, but over the years she has become a hugely important part of our growth behind the scenes. Through hard work, determination and a fantastic attitude, Hala has adapted and developed an entirely new range of office administration and management skills, becoming a vital part of our day-to-day operations.
We are incredibly grateful that Hala stuck with it, embraced every new challenge, and continues to play such an important role within the company.
