🏭 ROOFING TIP: A LEAK DOESN’T ALWAYS START WHERE YOU SEE THE WATER
One of the most common misconceptions with industrial roofs is that the leak must be directly above where water appears inside the building.
In reality, water can travel along roof sheets, purlins and insulation before eventually finding its way inside.
Common causes include:
🔹 Failed or loose fixings
🔹 Cracked or damaged rooflights
🔹 Deteriorated sealants and laps
🔹 Blocked or overflowing gutters
🔹 Damaged flashings
🔹 Ageing roof sheets
That’s why simply sealing the area directly above a leak doesn’t always solve the problem.
Finding the actual source is the important part.
At M&C McLean, we inspect industrial and agricultural roofing systems to identify the cause before recommending the correct repair.
A proper diagnosis can save a lot of unnecessary work — and money.
