A couple of recently completed projects. ⚒️
The first was a full façade renovation to an upper-floor flat in Cupar. This involved carefully removing all existing cement pointing and previous cement-based repairs, before repointing the stonework with a suitable lime mortar mix. Lithomix repairs were carried out where required, and a severely fractured mullion was replaced after multiple cracks had compromised its condition.
The second project was a full rake out and repoint of two ground-floor flats in Dunfermline. Both clients wanted the old cement mortar removed and replaced with a fresh lime mortar mix, restoring the appearance of the stonework while ensuring the building can breathe as intended.
Two more quality projects completed, using traditional materials and methods to help preserve these properties for years to come. ⚒️

Some work recently carried out to this chimney in aberdour after it was in a rather bad way .

We stripped and rebuilt where required and replaced any stones that were no longer adequate with some dog clamps put in for added strength .

Some heavy stones on this one glad to see it over the line and the chimney back to how it should be with no holes in it ✅⚒️

Little before & after of a recent job in Kirkcaldy .

The client was experiencing ongoing damp issues on this property. On investigation, we found that cement-based materials had been used previously, preventing the wall from breathing. We removed the cement and replaced it with a breathable lime mortar mix to allow moisture to evaporate naturally.

During our initial site visit, we also identified that the external ground level along the rear wall was higher than the internal floor level, causing bridging of the original DPC. To resolve this, we dug a channel along the wall and installed a French drain, effectively lowering ground levels and preventing further moisture bridging .

Getting that first job of the year ticked off in Kirknewton! ⚒️
We’ve taken this old wall from being hidden behind lath and plaster to a stunning new feature wall. Every bit of old mortar was cleared out, the stonework was scrubbed up, and it’s all been freshly repointed to bring it back to life.
It’s always a result when a customer asks you back for more work—great to see how our previous projects are holding up a few years down the line!

Our first post of 2026! Wishing all our customers both new and old all the best for the year ahead!

We were back at the self build project we completed in August building the entrance walls before our Christmas break.
