Little before & after of a recent job in Kirkcaldy .
The client was experiencing ongoing damp issues on this property. On investigation, we found that cement-based materials had been used previously, preventing the wall from breathing. We removed the cement and replaced it with a breathable lime mortar mix to allow moisture to evaporate naturally.
During our initial site visit, we also identified that the external ground level along the rear wall was higher than the internal floor level, causing bridging of the original DPC. To resolve this, we dug a channel along the wall and installed a French drain, effectively lowering ground levels and preventing further moisture bridging .
